Evoke Dance Company‘s third semi-annual showcase will premiere at the Aratani Japan America Theater, 244 San Pedro St in Little Tokyo near downtown L.A. from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

Evoke, which is rooted with former Arcadia High School performers, has grown to 24 members of the dance company, which always donates a portion of proceeds to charities. This year’s program, “Modes of Discourse,” is inspired by English Literature as dancers utilize dance as a writing instrument to narrate, argue, describe, and inform an idea, story, theory, theme, emotion, or thought. Featuring routines by special guest choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew, Kaba Modern, Barkada Modern, Rhetorical Dance Company and Breed.

Tickets are $15 pre-sale until Nov.1, $20 thereafter including at the door. Tickets can be bought from any Evoke Dancer or online at www.tinyurl.com/evokedance. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles Youth Network (layn.org).
