Ed Wong new ACA president

Edward Wong was installed as the new president of the Arcadia Chinese Association Tuesday (June 29) during a dinner program at the Sunset Room of the Santa Anita Golf Course.

Mayor Peter Amundson and several representatives of local legislators presented certificates and comments of appreciation to outgoing president Pearl Chen and board chairperson Polly Ho before Amundson officially installed all the new ACA officers and board directors. Get the Flash Player to see this content. . The evening began with an A cappela solo by Sherry Tay of the prayer-like introductory lyrics to “God Bless America” before the more than 100 in attendance joined her in singing the main part of the song.

Amundson and Councilman Gary Kovacic gave brief talks and thanked the ACA for supporting many different local organizations and the community in general, while fostering unity and interaction among diverse cultures in Arcadia.

That was one of the missions Wong said he intended to continue and expand as head of the ACA this year. He encouraged the support of other community groups as well.

The three other Arcadia City Councilman and several former Mayors were also in attendance, as was Edward Wong’s wife Dorothy and his daughter Katherine and her husband Sonny.
