Below is a summary of reported major crimes over the past 3 Januarys. Total crime is down 18% over last year at this time, even as total calls for service continue to climb.
On a related note, you may see some new crime prevention tools we are testing out around town. We are working with a company to test out 3 video cameras mounted on trailers that can be put in high crime areas. Right now, the test units are in the Downtown, on Live Oak, and on Sharon x El Monte, where we have had heightened calls for service in the past year. We are testing these units to consider them for a funding request in the next Fiscal Year and/or something that the Arcadia Police Foundation may be able to fund.
