Horacio Sanchez, a well-known leader in mental health and resiliency, will be the keynote speaker for the Arcadia Unified School District annual Community Forum/Family Engagement Night “Resiliency.” The Community Forum, which will be free of charge, will be held on Thursday, October 6, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center. Mr. Sanchez will be discussing resiliency for students, maximizing brain function, helping students deal with stress, and optimal health for student success.
Horacio Sanchez has been a teacher, school administrator, mental health director and consultant to the Department of Education in several states. Sanchez has utilized his training as an educator and clinician toward the education and treatment of children with severe emotional disorders. The Maladaptive Council (Academy of Science) recognizes him as a leading authority in emotional disorders and resiliency. His approaches are not only based on sound scientific research but have been the foundations of his award-winning mental health and educational programs.
Horacio’s diverse education and background have helped him to merge research, science, and practice. His first book, The Mentor’s Guide to Promoting Resiliency, provides a revolutionary framework for understanding childhood development, disorders, and treatment. He also wrote, A Brain-Based Approach to Closing the Achievement Gap, which provides a comprehensive approach that will help schools close the achievement gap. His newest book, The Education Revolution – How to Apply Brain Science to Improve Instruction and School Climate, shows educators how they can use our growing understanding of brain science to restore students’ desire to learn; improve achievement, behavior and school climate; and revolutionize education.
