Carjacking Arrest





At about 11:15 AM, on Tuesday February 20th, 2018, officers responded to the area of the Par 3 Golf Course, in the 600 Block of East Live Oak Avenue. The call was regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and a carjacking. The victim was a 53-year- old resident of San Gabriel, who was seated in his parked vehicle. The victim saw the suspect, who he knew as an acquaintance, standing behind the vehicle. The victim walked up to the suspect, and the suspect repeatedly punched and kicked him. At one point during the attack, the victim saw the suspect holding what appeared to be a rifle. The suspect then stole the vehicle. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. At about 12:00 PM, yesterday, El Monte Police Officers located the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was abandoned about a mile away from the scene of the crime, and a pellet rifle was found inside. El Monte Police Officers located the suspect nearby, and Arcadia Police Officers subsequently arrested him.

The suspect was identified as Marlon Gonzalez, who is a 30-year-old resident of Arcadia. Gonzalez was charged with PC 215(a) – carjacking and PC 245(a)(1) – assault with a deadly weapon. Gonzalez was booked at the Arcadia Police Department, and then he was transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Inmate Reception Center. Gonzalez’ bail is $100,000.
