As the California Philharmonic Orchestra prepares to open another Festival on the Green season at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, the group is unexpectedly facing its last season in Arcadia.

Following news that broke Thursday that Arboretum officials have struck a deal with the Pasadena Symphony Association and Pops to replace CalPhil after 14 years, CalPhil sent an e-mail Friday (April 29) noting that a group of supporters would gather to show support at the new offices of CalPhil on the west side of the Promenade at Westfield Santa Anita this morning from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

The Arboretum reportedly solicited local orchestras to pitch a more expansive and more financially lucrative program for the Arboretum, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

In Friday’s e-mail, CalPhil says “We are not going anywhere. Arcadia is our home and we intend to stay there for decades to come.”
