Bo (Derek) Santa Anita film judge

Bo knows horse movies. Actress and  California Horse Racing Board member Bo Derek is one of ten judges of the first HRTV “A Day at the Races” Film Festival, based at Santa Anita Park.


Other celebrity judges of the non-fiction five-minute documentaries include noted Los Angeles radio personality Tim Conway Jr., retired Hall of Fame jockey and current HRTV and NBC racing analyst Gary Stevens, and Hall of Famer Zenyatta jockey Mike Smith.

A review of the films begins today, Monday, April 2,  with winners to be announced on closing day, April 22. Top prize will pay $10,000; Second place is worth $5,000; and the third place finisher will receive $3,000. A “People’s Choice Award” will also be presented, with the winner receiving $10,000. Fans can vote on the “People’s Choice” at www.hrtv.com.

HRTV Director of Brand Management Carolyn Conley will also judge, along with Santa Anita’s Mark Verge (CEO), George Haines (President), Chris Quinn (Vice President of Sales and Marketing), Pete Siberell (Santa Anita Director of Community Services and Special Projects), and multiple Eclipse Award winning producer and Santa Anita Director of Broadcasting Amy Zimmerman.
