Band Festival Saturday, 11/21

More than 40 top Southern California High School marching bands, including bands from Arcadia High School and the city’s three middle schools will perform at the 56th annual Arcadia Festival of Bands on Saturday, November 21 (the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.)

The parade begins on Baldwin Avenue just south of Huntington Drive at 8:45 a.m. (click here for details about street closures affecting local traffic Saturday morning.) Arcadia police chief Robert Sanderson and Arcadia Fire Chief Tony Trabbie are the grand marshalls of this year’s parade that is themed “Saluting Community Service.”

Bring your own lawn chairs and coffee along Baldwin Avenue or Duarte Road and enjoy the percussion groups, scouts, and local dignitaries leading off the parade.

As the morning parade ends, participants and spectators will assemble in the bleachers at Salter Stadium (football field) at Arcadia High School (entrance from Campus Dr., west of Santa Anita Ave.) for the Percussion Performance/Competition and Awards Ceremony that begins at 12 noon. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

The Festival of Bands also hosts a premier field show competition beginning at 4 p.m. that same afternoon at Citrus College Stadium in Glendora. Arcadia High School’s presentation will be last, about 8:30 p.m.
