Arcadia Police Department Weekly Report for the period of Sunday June 17 to June 23, 2018

For the period of Sunday, June 17th, through Saturday, June 23th, the Police Department responded to 894 calls for service, of which 124 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Monday, June 18:
Shortly before 9:34 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2400 block of Doolittle Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear sliding glass door and entered the residence sometime between June 14 and June 18th. The loss is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 9:49 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 100 block of North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a fraud investigation. The business owner discovered two fraudulent checks had been cashed resulting in a loss of $1,865.00. The owner was in possession of the checks. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained theirbusiness’s information or the identity of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
Just after 2:20 p.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of East Camino Real Avenue regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed bait packages to combat the increase in property thefts throughout the city. The officer determined the 58-year-old male from Duarte was in possession of the stolen property. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 2:31 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of North First Avenue regarding a possible transient sleeping in the vacant, for-sale location. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 28-year-old male from Hacienda Heights, damaged a rear window and screen in an effort to enter the residence and sleep. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Around 4:37 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue regarding a hit and run traffic collision. Based on witness statements, the officers located the black Camaro near Lynrose Street and Farner Avenue. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver’s breath. The 48-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, June 19:
Just before 12:10 p.m., an officer responded to the City of Arcadia Public Works Services Facility, 11800 Goldring Road, regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed an unidentified suspect stole five tires and four steel wheels.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 25-years-old with short dark colored hair. He was driving a dark colored mid-size SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
At about 2:28 p.m., an officer responded to LensCrafters, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. A store employee witnessed two suspects enter the store and conceal nine pairs of sunglasses before fleeing. The reported loss is $1,350.00.
The suspects are described as a Hispanic male, about 20-years-old, thin build, black hair,and wearing a black shirt with a “Nike” logo. The female suspect is described as Hispanic in her late teens or early twenties, wearing a white sleeveless shirt. The investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, June 20:
Shortly after 6:20 p.m., an officer responded to Chevron Gas Station, 11 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding theft report. An investigation revealed a female suspect was in possession of various stolen snacks from the gas station and was located a short time later by an assisting officer. The 27-year-old from Pico Rivera was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Before 5:23 p.m., an officer responded to Sephora, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. A loss prevention employee witnessed the suspect, a 15-year-old female from Duarte, conceal $382.00 worth of merchandise in her purse before exiting the store, failing to make payment. She was apprehended, arrested, and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Thursday, June 21:
Around 1:52 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .16%. The 29-year- old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 10:39 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Diamond Avenue regarding an assault report. An investigation revealed an altercation between roommates escalated and resulted in the suspect threatening to kill the victim while holding a kitchen knife. The 48-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Friday, June 22:
Just before 2:16 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Mayflower Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered unknown suspect(s) smashed a front window, activated the alarm, and stole jewelry and cash before fleeing. The investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after 11:08 p.m., an officer responded to Hartfield Construction, 11908 Clark Street, regarding an alarm activation. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect used a rock to smash a front window and likely fled once the alarm activated. No suspects were seen, no witnesses were located, and no loss was reported.
Saturday, June 23:
14. At approximately 9:01 a.m., an officer responded to Waxology, 709 South First Avenue, regarding a burglary report. The owner discovered an unknown suspect attempted to open one of the windows in an effort to enter the business. The suspect was not successful and no loss was reported. The investigation is ongoing.
