Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -the period of Sunday, 2 /12th - Saturday 2/18th

For the period of Sunday, February 12th through Saturday, February 18th, the Police Department responded to 981 calls for service, of which 111 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, February 12:
1. At 9:32 a.m., an officer responded to a residence that was under construction in the 1100 block of Encanto Drive regarding a burglary investigation. The victim discovered someone had forced open one of the windows and left behind evidence in one of the rooms. The suspect fled empty-handed. DNA was collected and is being processed.
Monday, February 13:
2. At 5:38 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation. The victims, a group of juvenile males, were approached by a group of five to seven Hispanic males who threatened them and demanded their designer clothing, shoes, and accessories. One suspect was armed with a knife and cut one of the victims during the incident, resulting in a minor injury. The suspects are described as juveniles, approximately 14 to 16-years-old, males.
Tuesday, February 14:
3. At 2:16 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a shoplifting investigation. Loss prevention staff witnessed the suspect steal clothing and shoes. Upon confronting the suspect outside of the store, she admitted to being in possession of a glass pipe to smoke methamphetamine and to stealing more merchandise from Macy’s. The 24-year-old female from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Wednesday, February 15:
4. At 7:10 a.m., officers responded to Canny Beauty Eyelashes, located at 54 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary investigation. Surveillance footage captured a lone suspect breaking a rear glass door and stealing the register, cash, and eye lash supplies. The suspect is described as a male wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, baggy shorts, and dark-colored shoes.
Thursday, February 16:
5. At 6:58 a.m., an officer responded to Valero Gas Station, located at 900 West Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary investigation. The reporting party stated the suspect(s) entered the unlocked restroom sometime during the previous night and attempted to break into the convenient store by making a hole in the adjoining wall. The suspect(s) failed to make a hole big enough and fled empty-handed.
Friday, February 17:
6. At 8:34 a.m., officers responded to Albertsons, located at 298 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding an aggravated assault investigation. The suspect, a 37-year-old male from Temple City, stole a minimal amount of merchandise from the store before being confronted in the parking lot by the store manager. During the interaction, the suspect threatened and ultimately threw a rock at the manager. The rock missed the manager but could have caused a significant injury due to its size. A records check also revealed the suspect had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
7. At 9:28 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The victim determined unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear glass door in an attempt to steal property. The loss is unknown as of the date of this report.
Saturday, February 18:
8. At 12:50 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Magna Vista Avenue, regarding a burglary investigation. Sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on February 17th, someone shattered the rear sliding glass door to the home and fled with cash and a designer handbag.
9. At 9:29 p.m., an officer was flagged down near the 200 block of North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a battery investigation. The victim stated she got into an argument with the suspect, a local transient, and the interaction escalated when the suspect assaulted her. A second suspect then began hitting her on the back with an unidentified object. Both suspects fled in a gold sedan. The victim identified the first suspect from previous interactions but was unable to identify the second suspect. The victim declined medical attention.
