Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, January 8th - Saturday, January 14th


For the period of Sunday, January 8th through Saturday, January 14th, the Police Department responded to 986 calls for service, of which 114 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, January 8:


At 3:34 a.m., an officer responded to Hen Jiu Yi Quan BBQ Bar, located at 168 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed three suspects smashed the front glass window, ransacked the business, and fled with electronics and cash. The suspects are described as three males, all with thin builds and wearing dark clothing. Another burglary occurred nearby at Arcadia Donuts, located at 34 Las Tunas Drive, with similar circumstances. Those suspects fled in a black sedan. The investigations are ongoing.

  1. At 6:57 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary. An investigation revealed sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on January 8th, someone pried open the rear window latch to her Chevrolet Suburban and stole the third-row seat.

Monday, January 9:

3. At 3:18 a.m., officers responded to USC Arcadia Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a male suspect trespassing. A records check of the individual revealed he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. When officers attempted to detain the 32- year-old male from Los Angeles, he resisted but was ultimately arrested. A search of his property revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


4. At 3:33 a.m., officers responded to an audible alarm activation at a home located in the 1900 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter the victim’s garage by prying open a pedestrian door. The suspect(s) failed to make entry and no loss was reported. It is unknown if this attempted burglary is related to a recent burglary that occurred at the victim’s home on January 8th.


5. At 9:09 a.m., an officer responded to Vons Corporation, located at 618 Michillinda Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle report. An investigation revealed someone stole a catalytic converter from one of the company trucks. The crime occurred sometime between Friday, January 6th and Monday, January 9th.


Tuesday, January 10:

6. At 2:40 a.m., an officer responded to Fashion Optical, located at 1220 South Golden West Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed three suspects pried open the front door and fled with numerous pairs of glasses. The suspects are described as three men in hooded sweatshirts.


7. At 8:21 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed a known suspect pushed a loss prevention employee when he was confronted for stealing a watch. The suspect has been identified as a 27-year-old male from Altadena. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is outstanding as of the date of this report.


Wednesday, January 11:

8. At 10:27 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Outpatient Surgery, located at 618 West Duarte Road, regarding a forgery report. An investigation revealed a check issued and mailed by the surgery center had been stolen, forged, and successfully cashed.


9. At 1:12 p.m., an officer responded to Albertsons, located at 298 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a theft investigation. An investigation revealed the suspect stole the victim’s purse from her cart, used her debit card to withdraw cash and complete a fraudulent transaction resulting in a total loss of more than $2,780.00. The suspect is described as an Asian female with black hair, wearing a grey sweatshirt, a white shirt, grey sweatpants, and white shoes. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.


Thursday, January 12:

10. At 1:39 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of California Street regarding a burglary investigation. An investigation revealed sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on January 4th, unidentified suspect(s) tampered with a sliding glass door lock and entered the home. Once inside, they fled with handbags and electronics.


11. At 11:34 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Longden Avenue regarding a theft report. Upon contacting the subject, the officer recognized his from previous contacts. The officer discovered the 54-year-old male transient was in possession of two stolen shopping carts. He was issued a citation.


Friday, January 13:

12. At 5:54 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed two suspects approached them, demanded their purse and wallet, and then one of the suspects threatened the female victim with a knife. The suspects are described as two males, either Black or Hispanic, both approximately 6’ tall and wearing masks. They fled in a silver four-door sedan.


13. At 6:01 p.m., an officer responded to Santa Anita Race Track, located at 285 West Huntington Drive, regarding a possible driver under the influence. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his body. Through a series of tests, the officer confirmed the suspect had a blood alcohol content of .133%. The 26-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


14. At 7:20 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a report of threats being made against the victim. An investigation revealed the suspect willfully made verbal threats to the victim while holding two knives. The 29-year- old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
