Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report- Sunday, January 7th, through Saturday, January 13th



For the period of Sunday, January 7th, through Saturday, January 13th, the Police Department responded to 989 calls for service of which 113 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, January 7:

1. At 3:45 a.m., officers responded to UDental, 125 East Duarte Road, regarding an audible alarm. Officers discovered the suspect removed the hinges from the door housing the water heather and stole a ladder. The suspect was described as male, approximately five feet eight inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans, and black shoes.

2. At 4:20 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of West Duarte Road regarding a burglary that had just occurred. The reporting party saw that a storage unit had been forced open and the suspect vehicle was leaving the scene. Officers located the vehicle and discovered the occupants were in possession of stolen property and drugs. The 53-year-old male and the 34-year-old female, both from San Gabriel, were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

3. At 6:48 a.m., officers responded to Jazz Cat, 1088 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a burglary. The unknown suspect smashed a window and ransacked the business. The suspect was described as a male wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

4. At 8:21 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Walnut Avenue regarding a burglary report. The unknown suspect(s) gained entry by smashing the rear glass door of the residence. The suspect(s) ransacked the home, stealing jewelry, cash, and numerous high-end handbags.

Monday, January 8:

5. At 2:43 a.m., officers responded to Wing Hop Fung, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a burglary. The unknown suspect made entry by prying open a roof hatch. The suspect was described as male, wearing a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, pants, and a backpack.

6. At 7:09 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Danimere Avenue, regarding a burglary report. The resident was awakened by a subject at his door but decided to stay in bed. When the resident awoke and went downstairs, he found the subject asleep on his bathroom floor. The subject entered the home through an unlocked window, ate some chocolates in the kitchen, then fell asleep in the bathroom. Officers discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 49-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, January 9:

7. At 3:19 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of West Duarte Road regarding the report of an assault with a deadly weapon. An Arcadia Fire Department Inspector was walking in front of a car stopped along the sidewalk when the driver caused the vehicle to move forward. The Inspector had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The driver yelled at the Inspector and said she was looking for big trouble. The 64-year-old female transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Wednesday, January 10:

8. At 1:17 a.m., officers responded to 903 South First Avenue, regarding a vandalism report.

Unknown suspects have repeatedly driven by shooting BB gun pellets at the business and the

neighboring businesses. An investigation was conducted and later that day, the suspect and suspect vehicle were located. Officers found a long barrel air pistol in the front seat of the vehicle. The 54-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

9. At 7:25 a.m., officers responded to Kiyosuzu Restaurant, 921 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a burglary report. The victim discovered the rear door of the business had been forced open, and the beer cabinet and cash register had been ransacked.

Thursday, January 11:

10. At 2:05 a.m., officers responded to Embassy Suites by Hilton, 211 East Huntington Drive,

regarding a disturbance and a stabbing victim inside the lobby at SpringHill Suites by Marriott at 99 North Second Avenue. An investigation revealed a 66-year-old female transient smashed seven car windows in the parking lot using a fire extinguisher. She then crossed the street to SpringHill Suites and used scissors to cut the desk clerk’s face. She then exited the lobby and smashed four more vehicle windows in the parking lot before fleeing to the parking lot of Hilton Garden Inn located at 199 North Second Avenue, where she damaged another vehicle. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, January 12:

11. At 3:12 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Colorado Boulevard when he noticed a male subject who matched the description of a burglary suspect. The subject ran from the officer and after a brief foot pursuit, the subject was detained. It was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 44-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

12. At 7:47 p.m., officers responded to Arcadia Living, 601 Sunset Boulevard, regarding a report of elder abuse. A caregiver frustrated with the elderly victim, grabbed him by the waistline and threw him towards his wheelchair causing him to fall into the seat. She then swung her hands towards the victim’s face several times causing scratches. She pushed him into the restroom door and kicked his legs numerous times before throwing him onto the bed. The 57-year-old female from Alhambra was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Saturday, January 13:

13. At 9:14 a.m., an officer was patrolling the Arcadia Public Library, 20 West Duarte Road, when he observed a male subject drinking an alcoholic beverage in public. The officer contacted the 40-year-old male transient and issued him a citation.
