Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - -Sunday, January 28th, through Saturday, February 3rd



For the period of Sunday, January 28th, through Saturday, February 3rd, the Police Department responded to 964 calls for service of which 98 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, January 28:

1. At 10:25 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Paloma Drive regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his residence around midnight. He returned to his vehicle in the morning to find the rear window had been smashed and his tools had been stolen.

2. At 11:23 a.m., officers responded to Extended Stay America, 401 East Santa Clara Street, to assist with the eviction of a hotel guest who was yelling at hotel employees. An investigation revealed the male subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 34-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, January 29:

3. At 12:20 p.m., officers responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department to speak with the victim of a grand theft that occurred in the rear parking lot of Friar Tux, 1000 South Baldwin Avenue. The victim returned to his vehicle and discovered boxes of wine and an iPad had been stolen from his vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.

4. At 12:36 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of South Fourth Avenue regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence by smashing the rear sliding glass door. The suspect(s) ransacked the home before fleeing in an unknown direction.


Tuesday, January 30:

5. At 11:43 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of South First Avenue regarding the report of a burglary. Video footage captured two suspects walking in the rear of the residence with flashlights the night prior. One suspect attempted to gain access to the second floor of the residence by climbing a ladder. After the unsuccessful attempt, the suspects smashed a rear window. The suspects fled the scene when they heard the victim arrive home. The suspects were described as having medium builds, wearing hooded sweatshirts, and masks.

6. At 6:24 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Alta Street regarding a domestic disturbance. A husband and wife were arguing when the husband forcefully took his elderly mother-in-law’s cellphone from her to keep her from calling the police. The 50-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

7. At 10:30 p.m., officers responded to Chase Bank, 60 East Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary suspect seen walking around inside the bank after hours. Officers located an unlocked door and found the suspect hiding inside. The suspect was in possession of a bank scanning device and a container of bank cards. The 36-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Thursday, February 1:

8. At 1:15 a.m., an officer was investigating a report of a drunk driver near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue. The officer located the suspect at the 76 Gas Station, 902 West Foothill Boulevard in the city of Monrovia. Upon contacting the suspect, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the suspect. He was also found to be in possession of Xanax pills. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 28-year-old male from Azusa had been driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

9. At 5:17 p.m., An officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of South Second Avenue

regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the home by smashing a rear glass door. The suspect(s) stole a safe containing watches before fleeing the scene.

10. At 9:29 p.m., officers responded to the rear of Extended Stay America, 401 East Santa Clara Street, regarding the report of an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was sleeping with his female friend in his tent when a male suspect approached the tent and hit the victim’s face and head several times with a metal pipe. The suspect called for the female, then drug her out of the tent and fled the scene with the female in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as bald, wearing all black clothing with a brown mask.3

11. At 10:07 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Singing Wood Drive regarding the report of a burglary. The victim returned home to find an upstairs bedroom ransacked and the window shattered. The unknown suspect(s) placed a patio chair on top of a table to gain access to the second story of the home.


Friday, February 2:

12. At 8:05 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Alta Street regarding a female suspect seen stealing mail. Officers located the suspect nearby and discovered she was in possession of several pieces of stolen mail and methamphetamine. The 27-year-old transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Saturday, February 3:

13. At 1:14 a.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding the report of a traffic collision that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the driver collided with multiple parked cars. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 34-year-old male from Pasadena was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

14. At 6:00 p.m., officers responded to the 00 block of West Pamela Road regarding the report of a burglary. The victim returned home to find the rear glass window in the master bedroom had been shattered. It appeared the unknown suspect(s) entered the home and the victim’s alarm system had been activated at the time of the burglary. No property was reported missing.
