
For the period of Sunday, January 12th through Saturday, January 18th , the Police Department responded to 1,009 calls for service, of which 97 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, January 12:
At approximately 7:26 p.m., an officer responded to Champs, located at 400 South Baldwin
Avenue at The Shops at Santa Anita, regarding a theft report. The store employee witnessed two suspects steal numerous items. The loss included pants and jackets valued at approximately $665.00.
Monday, January 13:
At approximately 4:56 a.m., an officer responded to Forza Gas Station, located at 2 East Duarte Road, regarding an audible alarm activation. The officer discovered unidentified suspect(s) damaged the lock to enter the business and once inside, they ransacked the store and fled with lottery scratchers, cash, and tobacco products.
Tuesday, January 14:
At approximately 1:41 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Workman
Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The victim stated a rear window had been smashed and multiple rooms had been ransacked. The suspect(s) also tampered with the power to the home. The loss is unknown as of the date of this report.
1Wednesday, January 15:
At approximately 9:14 a.m., an officer responded to Eastwest Bank, located at 200 East Duarte
Road, regarding a vandalism report. Some time during the previous night, someone smashed two glass windows. No entry was made, and no loss was reported. The investigation is awaiting the submission of CCTV footage.
Thursday, January 16:
At approximately 9:29 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Ralph’s grocery store,
located at 211 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a subject being verbally combative with
customers. During a records check of the individual, the officer determined the 35-year-old from Monrovia had two outstanding warrants. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Friday, January 17:
At approximately 10:48 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Golden West Avenue and Paloma Avenue due to an increase in crime in the area when he saw a suspicious vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle used in a recent theft of landscaping equipment. When the officer attempted to contact the driver, the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. With the assistance of Pasadena Air Support, the vehicle was followed to the City of Los Angeles. While the vehicle was being followed, it was involved in a hit and run collision. An investigation later revealed the occupants abandoned the vehicle and one of the suspects went into a store and purchased new clothing to avoid being detected.
The 25-year-old male from Pasadena was located and arrested a few days later. A records check revealed the arrestee was also on parole for burglary. The second suspect has yet to be identified.
Saturday, January 18:
At approximately 11:34 a.m., an officer responded to the area of First Avenue and Santa Clara
Street regarding an attempted aggravated assault report. The victim was waiting at the Metro
Transit Plaza when the suspect approached her, yelled at her in a threatening manner, and held up a large piece of concrete as if she was going to throw it at the victim. The victim fled and was not injured. The suspect was located, and the 66-year-old female suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
