Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, February 25th, through Saturday, March 2nd


For the period of Sunday, February 25th, through Saturday, March 2nd, the Police Department responded to 956 calls for service of which 110 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, February 25:

1. At 7:11 a.m., officers responded to Taco Treat, 74 East Live Oak Ave, regarding a burglary report. Security footage revealed a male suspect forced entry into the location through a rear window during early morning hours. The suspect used a drill to remove the lock on the rear door and the security gate. The suspect fled the scene with documents and the cordless drill southbound on Tyler Avenue in a dark colored vehicle with black rims.

2. At 2:12 p.m., an officer contacted the victim of a theft at the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department. The victim stated he withdrew money at Chase Bank, 700 West Huntington Drive, around noon the day prior. He placed the money, which was in an envelope, in his back pocket. As he drove away, he discovered his car had a flat tire. The victim pulled over and was immediately approached by two women who offered him a can of fix-a-flat. As the victim was bent over attempting to fix his tire, he discovered his money was missing from his pocket and the women were gone.

3. At 7:22 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of The Shops at Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. An investigation revealed the suspect parked next to the victim’s vehicle, smashed the rear driver side window, and stole a backpack and two handbags before fleeing the scene in a white SUV.

4. At 8:22 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Norman Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the home by smashing the rear glass door. The suspect(s) ransacked the bedrooms before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

Monday, February 26:

5. At 2:09 p.m., an Arcadia Public Works employee responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department to report vandalism that occurred at Eisenhower Park, 601 North Second Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) damaged the equipment box located on the corner of Colorado Boulevard and Second Avenue. The suspect(s) also stole the remote terminal unit that was housed inside.

6. At 3:46 p.m., officers responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a male subject who was verbally aggressive with mall security and refusing to leave. Officers located the subject and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for himself. Officers also discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 53-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, February 27:

7. At 10:21 a.m., officers responded to the Angeles National Forest Service Headquarters, 701 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding the report of a burglary. Employees discovered several large steel Conex storage boxes had been broken into. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) cut the barbed wire and jumped over the wall to the storage yard where they proceeded to pry and cut the locks to several storage containers, stealing several tools before fleeing the scene.

8. At 5:08 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Pamela Road regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) cut the power to home before smashing the rear sliding glass door and ransacking several rooms. The property loss was unknown at the time of the report.

Wednesday, February 28:

9. At 1:21 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Arcadia Landmark Shopping Center, 411 East Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. An investigation revealed a male suspect wearing a black mask and yellow hooded sweatshirt, smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle and stole the victim’s checkbook and credit cards. The suspect fled the scene in a white SUV.

Thursday, February 29:

10. At 8:01 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of San Vicente Road regarding a suspicious person seen walking around the residence and hiding in the bushes. Officers located and contacted the subject and discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine, MDMA, illegal mushrooms, and burglary tools. The 46-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, March 1:

11. At 3:04 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary that had just occurred. The victim had withdrawn cash from his bank just prior to parking his car in Von’s parking lot. He left his money inside a bag in his car before entering the grocery store. The victim returned to find his driver’s side window had been smashed and his money had been stolen. The suspect was described as a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Saturday, March 2:

12. At 12:15 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Alta Vista Avenue, regarding a restraining order violation. The suspect barricaded herself inside a bedroom and refused to leave. Officers managed to force entry into the room and detain the suspect who was in possession of drug paraphernalia. An investigation revealed she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest. The 40- year-old female transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

13. At 5:19 p.m., officers responded to JC Penney, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The suspect selected a jacket and put it on before exiting the store. A loss prevention agent approached the suspect and asked him to return the jacket. The suspect then brandished a knife in a threatening manner before running toward the parking lot. Officers located the suspect running across the Santa Anita Racetrack parking lot. The 17-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
