Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, December 4th through Saturday, December 1

For the period of Sunday, December 4th through Saturday, December 10th, the Police Department responded to 841 calls for service, of which 102 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, December 4:

  1. At 2:50 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive regarding a solo vehicle traffic collision. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath and body. Through a series of tests, the officer discovered the 31-year-old female from Monrovia had been driving with a blood alcohol content of .177%, well above the legal limit. The driver was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At 9:46 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Camino Real Avenue regarding a residential burglary investigation. The officer discovered someone had smashed a rear glass door and fled with a laptop. The total loss was not reported at the time of the crime.

Monday, December 5:

3. At 2:59 a.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Las Tunas Drive and Live Oak Avenue. Upon contacting the driver, the officer determined the suspect was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. After conducting field sobriety tests, the officer discovered the 22-year-old female from Pomona was driving with a blood alcohol content of .227%. A passenger, a 26-year-old male from Irvine, was also under the influence of alcohol and was unable to care for himself. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


4. At 12:25 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, a Hispanic female smash one of the windows and flee with the victim’s purse. The suspect is described as being 30 to 35-years-old, with light colored hair, wearing a black tank top, sweatpants, and having several tattoos.


Tuesday, December 6:

5. At 1:04 a.m., an officer responded to the area of Sunset Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue regarding a subject check request. Upon locating the subject, the officer discovered she was drinking in public. The 51-year-old female from Arcadia was issues a citation in the field.


6. At 2:23 p.m., an officer responded to Sunny Bay Pharmacy, located at 450 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary. An investigation revealed three unidentified suspects smashed the front window of the medical building. Once inside, they used a sledgehammer to break a wall into the pharmacy. They fled with prescription medications.


Wednesday, December 7:

7. At 12:43 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of East Camino Real Avenue regarding a burglary in progress. The victim was able to scare off the suspect, but surveillance footage captured a description. With the description, additional officers were able to locate the suspect and the 21-year-old male from Los Angeles was charged with burglary, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools, a probation violation, and two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


8. At 10:03 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Duarte Road and Fifth Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle in the area. Upon locating and stopping the vehicle, the driver admitted to being in possession of a controlled substance. A records check revealed the suspect also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The 48-year-old male from San Gabriel was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Thursday, December 8:

9. At 4:19 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of Walnut Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. Sometime between November 30th and December 7th, unknown suspect(s) entered the home by smashing the rear sliding glass door and ransacked the location. The loss is unknown as of the date of this report.


10. At 4:50 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The suspect was witnessed stealing more then $1,000.00 worth of merchandise. The 18-year-old female from West Hills was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, December 9:

11. At 12:27 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft. Loss prevention stated the suspect fled with 40 designer shirts, amounting to a loss of nearly $3,500.00 before dropping the items outside of the entrance and fleeing in his black sedan. The suspect is described as a Black male between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old.


12. At 5:00 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Del Mar Boulevard and Oak Knoll Avenue regarding the activation of a GPS tracking device. The device had been previously deployed by the Arcadia Police Department to combat package thefts throughout the city. A pursuit ensued and ended in North Hollywood. The suspect attempted to run and hide in a yard but was ultimately located. He was charged with evading, burglary, stealing a vehicle, grand theft, a hit and run collision, driving on the wrong side of the road, and a records check revealed he had four outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The 22-year-old male from Oxnard was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Saturday, December 10:

13. At 12:50 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of West Camino Real Avenue and South Baldwin Avenue regarding a vehicle blocking the intersection. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered he was asleep at the wheel. An investigation revealed the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol. The 29-year-old male from Westminster was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


14. At 1:01 p.m., an officer responded to Cosmo Prof, located at 332 East Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. The officer determined two female suspects stole various cosmetic items amounting to a loss of $136.00. The suspects are described as two Hispanic females.
