Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -Sunday, December 11th to Saturday, December17th

For the period of Sunday, December 11th through Saturday, December 17th, the Police Department responded to 786 calls for service, of which 87 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Monday, December 12:

1. At 6:20 a.m., an officer responded to the 1200 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a vehicle burglary report. Surveillance footage captured two suspects tampering with vehicles parked in an underground parking lot. The two male suspects shattered the windows of two vehicles and fled without any property.

2. At 10:04 a.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The store manager reported a lone male suspect entered the store, selected more than thirty items, and fled resulting in a loss of $2,612.00. The suspect is described as a White male with a thin build, and wearing a black long sleeve shirt, jeans, a red bandana, and had copper colored hair.

3. At 3:23 p.m., an officer responded the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Naomi Avenue regarding a male subject impeding traffic and drinking an alcoholic beverage. Upon contacting the subject, the officer discovered he had stolen the bottle of alcohol from Vons, located at 745 West Naomi Avenue, and was drunk in public and unable to care for himself. A records check also revealed he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The 48-year- old was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, December 13:

4. At 10:22 a.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a mail theft incident. Sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12th, someone tampered with a community mail box and stole mail.

5. At 2:27 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a petty theft report. The officer discovered the victim was contacted by the unidentified suspect who convinced the victim to transfer $25,000 in bitcoin. The suspect scammed the victim by claiming to be a famous celebrity.

6. At 6:22 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Chevron Service Center, located at 11 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed a customer vandalized the inside of the store after being confronted by an employee for concealing merchandise inside his coat. The suspect, a 61-year-old male from Long Beach, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Wednesday, December 14:

7. At 2:14 a.m., an officer responded to the area of 1100 Rancho Road regarding a vehicle that had collided with a light pole. Upon contacted the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The field sobriety tests revealed the driver had a blood alcohol content of .128%. The 24-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

8. At 9:03 a.m., an officer responded to Health Care Partners, located at 450 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary investigation. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) broke a window, smashed a restroom wall, and attempted to pry open the door to the pharmacy. The loss is unknown as of the date of this report.

9. At 2:33 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim witnessed the suspect drive away with his vehicle. The suspect is described as a heavy set male with a dark, short beard, and was approximately 30 to 40-years-old.

Thursday, December 15:

10. At 2:02 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a subject in the area of Holly Avenue and Huntington Drive. Prior to contacting the known subject, a records check revealed the 40-year-old male from Glendora had 11 outstanding misdemeanor warrants. While arresting the suspect, the officer located drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, December 16:

11. At 12:04 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of East Newman Avenue and North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a hit and run traffic collision investigation. Assisting officers located the suspect’s vehicle nearby and found the driver asleep at the wheel. The 30-year- old female driver appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

12. At 11:53 a.m., an officer responded to a parking structure in the 700 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a grand theft incident. Sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on December 16th, someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter from his 2017 Nissan van. A second catalytic converter was stolen nearby, in the 600 block of Fairview Avenue at approximately the same time.

Saturday, December 17:

13. At 1:08 a.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of West Huntington Drive in regard to a car that had collided into a tree. Upon contacting the driver, the officer determined the 40-year-old male from Temple City was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and issued a citation.

14. At 3:14 a.m., officers responded to iKrusher, located at 11818 Clark Street, in regard to a burglary alarm activation. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle attempting to flee and a short pursuit ensued. Two suspects were ultimately arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The 47-year-old male from Los Angeles was charged with burglary, evading, possession of burglary tools, and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. The second suspect, a 29-year-old male from San Gabriel, was charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
