Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, August 25, through Saturday, August 31


For the period of Sunday, August 25, through Saturday, August 31, the Police Department responded to 972 calls for service of which 104 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, August 25:

1. At 12:17 a.m., officers were dispatched to Huntington Drive and Second Avenue in response to a traffic collision. Upon investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated and crashed into a tree, resulting in minor injuries. The driver declined all tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI.


Monday, August 26:

2. An officer was called to investigate a vehicle burglary at LA Fitness located at 1325 S. Baldwin Ave. Following the investigation, it was discovered that between 6:00 p.m. and 6:53 p.m. the suspect(s) broke the rear passenger window of the victim's vehicle and stole a Louis Vuitton purse valued at $2,630. Subsequently, an attempt was made to use the victim's credit card at Gamestop in the Shops at Santa Anita, which was unsuccessful. Surveillance footage from Gamestop identified the suspect as a Black male, aged 18-20, wearing a black shirt, black pants, a black beanie and with short dreadlocks.


Tuesday, August 27:

3. Between 12:15 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. in the 800 block of Panorama Drive, unidentified suspects(s) entered a residence through an unlocked rear sliding glass door. The house was ransacked, and an unknown quantity of jewelry was stolen. There were no alarm systems or CCTV cameras in place.

4. At 10:31 p.m. in the 300 block of El Dorado Street officers responded to a disturbance between neighbors. Upon investigation, it was found that the suspect pepper-sprayed and hit the victim with a newspaper due to being upset. The suspect was subsequently arrested.


Wednesday, August 28:

5. At 4:04 a.m., a witness contacted the police department to report a recent commercial burglary at Party House Liquor, located at 1002 N. Santa Anita Avenue. Upon investigation, officers discovered that two-to-three suspects were seen breaking the front window to gain entry. Shortly after, they left the premises, got into a vehicle, and drove away southbound on Santa Anita Avenue.

The stolen items included cash and lottery tickets. Although there were security cameras on-site, they were not operational at the time.


Thursday, August 29:

6. At approximately 9:45 a.m., in the1100 block of Louise Avenue a person walking in the vicinity reported hearing a man shouting and what sounded like gunshots from that area. Upon officers’ arrival, a response team was assembled. The officers spoke with a man who mentioned having a verbal dispute with his wife that led to a ceramic plate breaking in the kitchen. After investigating, it was determined that the altercation was solely a verbal argument between the couple regarding medication, with no gunshots fired.


Friday, August 30:

7. At 7:16 p.m., a FLOCK hit identified a stolen 2024 Kia Sport in the vicinity of Baldwin Avenue

and Duarte Road. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver did not comply and fled on

foot. With prompt support from the Foothill Air Support Team, the suspect was apprehended

without any issues in the 400 block of W. Duarte Road.


Saturday, August 31:

8. At 11:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence at Motel 6, located at 225 W. Colorado Place. Following an investigation, it was discovered that a man and his ex-girlfriend had a dispute regarding the visitation rights of their five-month-old baby, resulting in the man choking the woman. The victim managed to free herself from the attacker and alerted the police upon leaving the hotel room. The victim had visible redness on her neck and was taken to USC Arcadia Hospital by the Arcadia Fire Department. The boyfriend was arrested.
