For the period of Sunday, April 27th through Saturday, May 3rd
, the Police Department responded to 958 calls for service, of which 90 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, April 27:
At approximately 11:21 a.m., an officer responded to JCPenney, located at 400 South Baldwin
Avenue, regarding a shoplifting incident. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect, a white or Hispanic male in his 40’s, steal more than $950.00 worth of clothing.
Monday, April 28:
At approximately 6:11 p.m., an officer responded to Benihana, located at 400 South Baldwin
Avenue, regarding a battery report. The officer determined a domestic disturbance between a
couple and a friend resulted in the girlfriend throwing a beverage and scratching the friend.
Tuesday, April 29:
At approximately 12:14 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Victoria
Drive regarding a grand theft report. The victim stated he witnessed the suspect steal packages from a neighbors’ porch and then discovered he also had packages stolen. The suspect fled in a silver Honda Civic eastbound on Victoria Drive.
Wednesday, April 30:
At approximately 7:39 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400
South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., someone entered the victim’s vehicle by unknown means and fled with various electronics.
Thursday, May 1:
At approximately 3:58 p.m., an officer responded to the 1500 block of Hyland Avenue regarding a recovered stolen vehicle report. A notification was received of a stolen vehicle in the area.
Officers located the vehicle parked and unoccupied. Upon contacting the suspect, he admitted to taking the vehicle without the owner’s permission. The 45-year-old was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed he had an outstanding warrant.
Friday, May 2:
At approximately 1:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of South Ninth
Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. Officers determined unknown suspects pried open a sliding door, forcibly removed the alarm system, and fled with jewelry and a safe. The investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, May 3:
At approximately 3:39 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 24-year-old female from Los Angeles, told an employee she had a gun after stealing merchandise, and during the interaction, she spit in the face of the employee. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
