For the period of Sunday, September 4th, through Saturday, September 10th, the Police Department responded to 1,009 calls for service of which 163 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, September 4:

  1. Just after 3:11 a.m., an officer responded to 142 West Live Oak Avenue regarding a business check. The officer discovered the suspect(s) entered the business through a removed skylight, then forced entry into the neighboring business through a connecting door, and fled undetected. An unknown amount of property was taken from the location. A search of the business revealed the location was being used to grow marijuana. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. Around 6:51 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of South Seventh Place regarding an in-progress burglary report. An investigation revealed three suspects forcefully entered the residence to confront the victim about a battery that occurred between their friend and the victim. A 22-year old male from Los Angeles and 23-year- old male from Bellevue, Washington were in possession of narcotics. Both suspects and an additional 21-year-old male from Newcastle, Washington were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.




Monday, September 5:

  1. At about 10:28 p.m., an officer responded to Dong Fang Bodywork, 1035 West Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unidentified suspect(s) forced open the front door of the business and ransacked the location. The loss is unknown at the time of this report. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. At approximately 10:48 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect broke the passenger window of the vehicle and stole a backpack. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Tuesday, September 6:

  1. Around 3:46 a.m., an officer responded to Off Beach Tanning, 129 South First Avenue, regarding a burglary alarm. Surveillance footage revealed two unidentified suspects smashed an exterior door and fled with numerous sports jerseys in a gray or silver 4-door sedan. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. Just after 6:31 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Colorado Place regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between a husband and wife, resulting in the husband pulling the victim into his car against her will. The husband began driving when the wife jumped out of the vehicle and sustained a broken leg. Arcadia Fire responded and transported the victim to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment. The 29-year-old male from Altadena is outstanding at the time of this report.

Wednesday, September 7:

  1. Shortly after 12:49 p.m., an officer responded to Denny’s, 7 East Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. The officer discovered the suspect left the business without paying for her meal. The 55-year-old female from Los Angeles was arrested and issued a citation.

  2. At about 10:22 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim stated an unknown suspect stole his vehicle sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. The unoccupied vehicle was later recovered behind Motel 6, 225 Colorado Place, a short time later. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Thursday, September 8:

9. At approximately 7:27 a.m., an officer initiated contact with a man sleeping against the Evangelical Church of Arcadia, 225 East Live Oak Avenue. During a consensual search of the subject, the officer located a knife. The 25-year-old male from West Palm Beach, Florida, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.




10. Around 10:07 a.m., an officer responded to JCPenney, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. The loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal several items inside a bag before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 31-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed the arrestee also had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Friday, September 9:

  1. At about 12:04 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2400 block of South Sixth Avenue regarding an audible alarm. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence by unknown means, stole jewelry, and fled undetected through the front door. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. Just after 1:00 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of South Third Avenue regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed two suspects rented the victim’s residence through the website Airbnb and stole the victim’s furniture and appliances.The suspects are described as Asian males, both 6’ tall, with large builds. They fled the scene in a dark gray Lexus. The investigation is ongoing.

Saturday, September 10:

  1. Shortly before 12:44 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of First Avenue and Huntington Drive for having a broken license plate light. A records check of the occupants revealed the passenger was on felony probation for burglary. During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. The 51-year-old female from Murrieta was cited and released due to medical issues.

  2. At approximately 1:13 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Huntington Drive for “burning out” while making a right turn. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 21-year-old male from Arcadia was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check of the driver also revealed he had a suspended license for an excessive BAC (blood alcohol content).
