Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -September 18th, through Saturday, September 24th

The Police Department responded to 1,007 calls for service of which 147 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, September 18:

1. Shortly before 2:06 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between a husband and wife resulting in the husband striking his wife. The 55- year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. Arcadia Fire transported the female victim to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for evaluation.

2. Around 2:53 a.m., an officer responded to Tokyo Wako, 401 East Huntington Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer discovered an unidentified suspect smashed an exterior door, ransacked the front counter, and fled empty-handed. The investigation is ongoing.

Monday, September 19:

3. At about 8:48 a.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a theft of auto parts to a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue. The victim reported his spare tire, wheel, and lug nuts were stolen sometime between September 15th and September 16th. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

4. Just after 11:18 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Convalescent Hospital, 1601 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect broke the passenger window of the vehicle and stole a cell phone and ring. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Tuesday, September 20:

1. Around 9:14 a.m., an officer responded to Hugo Reid Elementary School, 1000 Hugo Reid Drive, regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) broke two windows near a custodial closet sometime during the previous weekend. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

2. Just before 1:20 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of Arcadia Police Department regarding a fraud report. The victim stated a man approached her in 2012 about purchasing $80,000 in gold Buddhas and ingots. The victim purchased the items only to find out they were made of fake gold. The suspect recently contacted the victim again inquiring about purchasing more items.
   

The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 40-years-old, thin build, light complexion, with short black hair. The investigation is ongoing.

1. Shortly after 2:13 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of Arcadia Police Department regarding a fraud report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect opened numerous credit card accounts in the victim’s name without his permission. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained his personal information.

Wednesday, September 21:

1. Around 10:28 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of Murietta Drive regarding a burglary report. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) entered the residence by breaking the rear sliding glass door, stole an unknown amount of property, and fled undetected. The alarm was not armed at the time of the crime. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

2. At about 12:15 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Columbia Road regarding a burglary alarm. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear sliding glass door, ransacked the bedroom, and fled with jewelry through the front door. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Thursday, September 22:

10. At approximately 5:44 p.m., an officer responded to CVS Pharmacy, 1401 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed four female suspects concealed nearly $2,000.00 worth of cosmetics inside their dresses before fleeing. The suspects were gone by the time loss prevention specialists noticed the loss. The investigation is ongoing. The suspects are outstanding at the time of this report.

Friday, September 23:

1. Around 4:33 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an attempted robbery that had just occurred. The officer discovered a 45-year- old male from Altadena had concealed numerous items of merchandise before exiting the store, failing to make payment. A loss prevention specialist approached the suspect and was pushed as he attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect was later located by officers. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. He also had five outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was in possession of drug paraphernalia and burglary tools.

2. At about 4:38 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Woodruff Place regarding a burglary report. The victim discovered an unknown suspect entered the residence through a side window, stole a bag full of hair products, and fled while the victim was napping in a nearby bedroom. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

3. Just before 6:26 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Newman Avenue regarding a fraud report. An investigation revealed the suspect told the elderly victim she was the winner of a large sum of money, however, she had to deposit $4,500 into a specific bank account. The victim complied and later discovered it was a scam. The investigation is ongoing.

Saturday, September 24:

14. Shortly after 12:55 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of San Miguel Drive regarding a suicidal subject. The officer discovered the victim ingested a large number of prescription pills in an attempt to harm herself. Arcadia Fire transported the victim to Arcadia Methodist for evaluation.
