Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report,November 20th, through Saturday, November 26th,

The Police Department responded to 808 calls for service of which 99 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, November 20:

  1. Shortly before 2:11 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1500 block of East Clark Street for driving on the wrong side of the road. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The breath test confirmed the 27-year-old male from Monrovia was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and had a blood alcohol content of .20%. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. Around 9:16 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive regarding two subjects breaking into mail boxes. A neighbor confronted the suspects after witnessing them steal mail. The suspects then ran to their vehicle and fled.

The suspects are described as a Hispanic male, 5’8” tall, 160 pounds, with a shaved head. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic female, 5’6”, 130 pounds, with long black hair. They fled in a silver hatchback with paper plates. The investigation is ongoing.

Monday, November 21:

  1. At about 11:57 a.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect entered the unlocked laundry room, broke the coin machines, and stole an unknown amount of quarters. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

  2. Just after 6:48 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive regarding a possible DUI driver. An investigation revealed the driver, a 26-year-old female from Victorville, was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and possibly marijuana, and was the suspect of two hit and run collisions. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, November 22:

5. Around 7:25 a.m., an officer responded to Camino Grove Elementary School, 700 Camino Grove Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect used spray paint to write the word “KHOST” on one of the campus buildings. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Wednesday, November 23:

  1. Just before 3:42 p.m., an officer responded to A Good Gift, 11940 Goldring Road, regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect likely entered the business through a locked rear door, ransacked the offices, and stole 30 checks. The investigation is ongoing.

  2. Shortly after 10:03 p.m., officers responded to Burlington Coat Factory, 1201 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a burglary report. A store employee witnessed the suspect run past the registers, through the exit, and continue on foot northbound toward Duarte Road with five designer jackets.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male in his mid-twenties, 5’9” tall, approximately 180 pounds, with a dark goatee. The investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, November 24:

8. At about 9:18 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Norman Avenue, regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect smashed the rear glass door, ransacked the location, and fled with an unknown amount of property. The investigation is ongoing.

9. At approximately 7:47 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles with tracking devices to combat the increase in bike thefts throughout the city. An investigation revealed a 35- year-old male from San Gabriel was in possession of the stolen bicycle and GPS tracker. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. During a search of the suspect, the officer also located tools commonly used to commit burglary.

Friday, November 25:

  1. Around 1:05 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a shoplift report. Loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal numerous items in her purse before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 16- year-old female from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At about 6:57 p.m., an officer responded to Burlington Coat Factory, 1201 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a check of two subjects who were identified from previous thefts. An investigation revealed one of the subjects, a 32-year-old female from Carson was in possession of drug paraphernalia, stolen merchandise, and burglary tools. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  3. Just before 10:42 p.m., officers responded to Sephora, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft investigation. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects concealed more than $500 worth of merchandise in their shopping bags before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 18-year-old female from San Gabriel and 18-year-old female from Alhambra were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Saturday, November 26:

  1. Shortly after 2:13 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Fairview Avenue and Hungate Lane for having a broken tail light. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed an array of mail in plain sight. During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer discovered the mail was stolen from various residences in Arcadia. The officer also found an altered check, stolen credit cards, burglary tools, and a methamphetamine pipe. Some of the mail was from a residential burglary that occurred earlier in the day. The 28-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At approximately 7:53 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed the victim’s ex- wife entered his residence through an unlocked door and stated she was going to take their children. When the victim denied her request, the suspect broke the victim’s property and kicked the victim while holding a blade-type weapon. The suspect fled prior to officers arriving. The 32-year-old female from Arcadia is outstanding at the time of this report.
