Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report For the period of Sunday, October 1st, through Satu

For the period of Sunday, October 1st, through Saturday, October 7th, the Police Department responded to 942 calls for service, of which 120 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, October 1:

  1. At about 2:16 p.m., an officer patrolling the area of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving. Witnesses saw the driver park the vehicle and flee the scene on a bicycle. The suspect was detained and further investigation revealed he had been driving a stolen vehicle and was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The 47-year-old male from Rosemead was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. Around 3:17 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding the report of a suspect in custody for theft. An investigation revealed, the suspect placed 52 items into a shopping cart and attempted to exit the market without paying for them. The 36- year-old female from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Monday, October 2:

3. At approximately 1:49 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of the Santa Anita Racetrack, 285 West Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a theft of a vehicle. The victim claimed that he had parked his vehicle in the lot two days prior and got a ride home. He returned to pick up his vehicle and discovered it missing along with his keys. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.




4. Around 9:08 p.m., officers responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles containing tracking devices to combat the increase in bicycle thefts around the city. An investigation revealed a 34-year-old male from Arcadia took the bicycle and fled the scene. He was located with the bicycle, arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, October 3:

  1. Just before 6:31 a.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of Los Altos Avenue regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed a 23-year-old male from Arcadia and a 29-year-old female from West Covina had the stolen package, property, and tracking device in their vehicle. The female also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. At approximately 9:40 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Santa Margarita Drive regarding a burglary. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the home by breaking a rear window located on the second floor, stole $20,000 in cash as well as several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry, and fled undetected. No witnesses were located.

Wednesday, October 4:

  1. Around 1:59 p.m., an officer responded to Residence Inn, 321 East Huntington Drive, regarding reports of a disturbance. An investigation revealed a couple’s argument had escalated when the male subject pinned the female victim down and punched her several times to the back of her head and face. He also covered her mouth to keep her from screaming. The 20-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. Just after 4:08 p.m., an officer responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a female detained for shoplifting. A loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect enter Sephora and conceal numerous items in her purse before exiting the store, failing to make payment. Further investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of stolen merchandise (totaling $1,087 in value) from Sephora, Old Navy and Burlington Coat Factory. The 24-year-old female from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Thursday, October 5:

9. Around 1:42 a.m., an officer responded to Night Owl Cafe, 168 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s)




smashed the front door, stole the cash register, and fled undetected. The investigation is ongoing.

10. Around 9:30 a.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect pried the driver side door handle of the vehicle and stole the victim’s wallet. No suspects were seen, and no witnesses were located.

Friday, October 6:

  1. At approximately 7:55 a.m., an officer responded to Denny’s, 7 East Huntington Drive, regarding a subject. An investigation revealed the subject entered the restaurant and ordered a meal. After consuming the meal, she began yelling at employees and throwing several dishes causing them to shatter. She then left the restaurant without paying for her meal. The subject was contacted and found to have two outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

  2. Around 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to Knockout’s Gentleman’s Club, 1580 Clark Street, regarding a fight involving several subjects. An investigation revealed four suspects approached two victims and punched and kicked them in the head several times. They then stole their jewelry and fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

  3. Just after 11:27 p.m., officers responded to the rear parking lot of Drinker’s Hall of Fame, 151 East Huntington Drive, regarding a traffic collision involving a solo vehicle and a wall. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 36-year-old male from Temple City was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking

Saturday, October 7:

14. Just before 9:52 a.m., an officer responded to a residence located in the 200 block of Alice Street regarding a report of mail theft. The victim told the officer that he discovered several pieces of advertisement mail on the ground next to his mailbox. He also noticed his mailbox was empty and several of his neighbor’s mailboxes were left open. During the investigation, the officer was made aware that Sierra Madre police officers had detained a subject who was in possession of several pieces of stolen mail belonging to residents in Arcadia and Sierra Madre. The 23-year-old male from La Puente was arrested by Sierra Madre police officers.
