Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report for the period of Sunday, December 25th, through Sa

For the period of Sunday, December 25th, through Saturday, December 31st, the Police Department responded to 941 calls for service of which 123 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, December 25:
1. Shortly before 10:55 p.m., an officer responded to the area of First Avenue and Foothill Boulevard regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between a boyfriend and girlfriend, resulting in the boyfriend punching the victim and slamming her head into the dash of the vehicle numerous times. The 36-year-old male from Sierra Madre fled on foot and is outstanding at the time of this report.
Monday, December 26:
Around 2:05 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of Walnut Avenue regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects shattered a rear sliding glass door and entered the residence; however, they quickly fled due to the alarm activation. The investigation is ongoing.
At about 4:37 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Sharon Road regarding a fraud investigation. The victim received a phone call from someone claiming to be their oldest grandson. The victims wire transferred $950 before discovering it was a scam. The victims were unable to provide any suspect information.

4. Just after 10:47 p.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of West Orange Grove Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect broke the passenger window of the vehicle and stole a backpack and jacket. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Tuesday, December 27:
Around 8:10 a.m., an officer responded to Orchid Thai Cuisine, 1311 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect shattered the front glass door, stole cash from the register, and fled undetected. The total loss was $466.00. The investigation is ongoing.
Just before 3:08 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of West Palm Drive regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. The officer determined a 29- year-old male from Long Beach and a 34-year-old female from Whittier had the stolen package, property, and tracking device in their vehicle. The suspects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a mail theft report. Witnesses reported seeing an unknown Asian male pry open a set of mail boxes and steal the victims’ mail. The suspect was seen fleeing in a white, two-door Honda with tinted windows. The investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, December 28:
Shortly after 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Norman Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed sometime between December 18th and December 28th, unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door, entered the nearly empty home, and fled with an unknown amount of property. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The victim was out of the country during the time of the incident.
At about 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a male driver who collided with the main gate of an apartment complex. Witnesses identified the suspect and officers located him in his home. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 76-year-old male from Arcadia had been driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage at the time of the collision. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Thursday, December 29:
Just before 10:24 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Public Library, 20 West Duarte Road, regarding a trespassing report. The subject was causing a disturbance and had threatened an elderly patron before being asked to leave. The suspect left but returned 30 minutes later. The 23-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 3:33 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect scratched the victim’s front and rear passenger doors. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Friday, December 30:
At about 3:32 p.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a suspicious male following the reporting party. The officer discovered the unknown male and vehicle matched a suspect involved in two lewd conduct incidents earlier in the week. The investigation is ongoing.
Just before 10:07 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of West Orange Grove Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect smashed a bedroom window, ransacked the residence, and fled with an unknown amount of property. The victim was out of town during the time of the crime. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Saturday, December 31:
14. Shortly after 11:35 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Colorado Boulevard and San Antonio Road for having a broken brake light. A records check of the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen out of the City of Hawthorne. The driver and occupants were detained and transported to the Arcadia Police Department; however, further investigation did not reveal sufficient evidence for a criminal complaint to be filed. The individuals associated with this case were released from custody and the investigation is ongoing.
