Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report For the period of Sunday, December 11th, through Sa

The Police Department responded to 968 calls for service of which 128 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Monday, December 12:

1. Shortly before 10:34 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Duarte Road regarding a vehicle that had crashed into the garage of a residence. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed signs of drug use. The suspect refused to provide a blood sample, however, due to the past history and objective symptoms of drug use, the officer concluded the 48-year-old female from Hesperia was likely driving under the influence of a drug. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Tuesday, December 13:

2. Around 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a solo vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of Las Tunas Drive and Live Oak Avenue. An investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle lost control, collided into a retaining wall, and overturned the vehicle. Three of the occupants were killed upon the arrival of officers and one occupant was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment.

1. Just after 3:09 p.m., an officer responded to Sephora at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. The officer determined two female suspects concealed numerous items of merchandise in their shopping bags before exiting the store, failing to make payment. Upon exiting the store, the suspects used force to steal the items and flee. Both suspects fled in their vehicle but were located a short time later. Additional stolen merchandise was located inside the vehicle. The 22-year-old female from Clovis and 21-year-old female from Fresno were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

2. At about 10:33 p.m., an officer responded to the 500 block of Santa Rosa Road regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed a 31-year-old male from Pasadena and a 31-year-old female from Fullerton were in possession of the stolen package, property, tracking device, drug paraphernalia, stolen mail, credit cards, checks, as well as personal information of more than 60 victims. The suspects arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

3. Just after 11:38 p.m., officers responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the activation of a GPS tracker attached to a bicycle. The officer discovered the 31-year-old male from Monrovia was in possession of the stolen bike. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Wednesday, December 14:

1. Around 10:00 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Holly Avenue and Camino Real Avenue for failing to stop at a stop sign. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed a meth pipe inside the vehicle in plain sight. A records check of the driver also revealed he was driving with a suspended license. The 50-year-old male from San Gabriel was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

2. Just before 9:46 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding an injury-related hit and run collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. An investigation revealed the pedestrian was hit by a 51-year-old male from Pasadena who was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested at his home and was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim passed away after being transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital.

Thursday, December 15:

8. At approximately 11:16 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Greenfield Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect shattered a rear sliding glass door, ransacked the location, and fled undetected. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

1. Around 12:39 p.m., an officer responded to Embassy Suites, 211 East Huntington Drive, regarding a subject attempting to rent a room with a fraudulent credit card. The officer determined the suspect obtained the victim’s credit card information without her permission and charged unauthorized transactions to the credit card. The investigation is ongoing.

2. Shortly after 2:39 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Orangewood Lane regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear sliding glass door, ransacked the residence, and fled with two envelopes containing $100 cash. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

3. At about 7:34 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Third Avenue regarding a burglary report. The victim and her daughter returned to their residence and encountered the suspect in the kitchen. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect is a white or Hispanic male, 25 to 30-years-old, approximately 5’10” tall, roughly 190 pounds, with a dark colored mustache. He was wearing a light colored ski mask, dark colored gloves, and a dark colored backpack. The investigation is ongoing. The loss is unknown at this time.

Friday, December 16:

1. Just before 10:02 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Oakwood Avenue regarding a commercial burglary report. The residence is under construction and, sometime during the previous evening, an unknown suspect forced open a pedestrian door and fled with an unknown amount of property. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

2. At approximately 11:08 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Holly Avenue and Camino Real Avenue regarding the activation of a GPS tracking device. An investigation revealed a 37-year-old male from Pasadena and a 21-year-old female from Baldwin Park were in possession of the stolen package and its contents. The suspects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

3. Shortly after 6:56 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Cambridge Avenue regarding an attempted residential burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed three suspects were scared off when they opened a rear door and the alarm siren activated. The suspects fled to an awaiting dark colored Chevrolet Tahoe.
   

All three suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves. The investigation is ongoing.
