Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report

For the period of Sunday, June 5th, through Saturday, June 11th, the Police Department responded to 932 calls for service of which 139 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, June 5:
Around 4:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of East Norman Avenue regarding a 911 hang-up call. An investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between a husband and wife. The husband was determined to be the primary aggressor based on visible injuries to the wife. The 42-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 3:27 p.m., an officer responded to Burlington Coat Factory, 1201 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed a loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal numerous items in a shopping bag before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 19-year-old male from Altadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, June 6:
Just before 1:59 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Portola Drive and Sunset Boulevard regarding a male and female arguing in the middle of the street. Upon contacting the female suspect, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined she was unable to care for herself. The 19-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
4. Just after 8:45 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Dream Spa, 1023½ South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery. An investigation revealed a male suspect entered the spa, grabbed an employee’s purse and attempted to flee the location. The employee managed to lock the front door trapping the suspect inside. The suspect attempted to break the door, but was unsuccessful. He became increasingly upset and the employee, fearing for her safety, locked herself behind a hallway door. The suspect managed to flee the location prior to police arrival.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-years-old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 165 pounds.
Tuesday June 7:
5. At approximately 3:40 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East Wisteria Avenue regarding the report of a suspicious occupied vehicle. A consensual search of the vehicle revealed the driver was in possession of fraudulent driver’s licenses, various pieces of mail belonging to numerous victims, paperwork containing victims’ personal identifying information and methamphetamine. The 39-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
6. At about 3:54 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive regarding the report of a non-injury traffic collision. An investigation revealed Party-1 struck Party-2 while changing lanes. Upon contacting Party-1, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 33-year-old male from West Covina was driving under the influence of cannabis. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Wednesday, June 8:
7. At approximately 1:13 a.m., an officer responded to Foothills Middle School, 171 East Sycamore Avenue, regarding alarm activations. An investigation revealed three male adult suspects gained access to the music room and stole drum sticks. The two 18-year-old males from Arcadia and the 19-year-old male from El Monte were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
8. Just after 7:51 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Zumies, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. A loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect select numerous clothing items before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 18-year-old male from San Gabriel was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Thursday, June 9:
9. At about 2:48 p.m., officers responded to a residence on the 000 block of West Longden Avenue regarding a panic alarm activation. An investigation revealed the victim’s ex-boyfriend forced his way into the residence, assaulted the victim and held her against her will. The 25-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
10. At approximately 6:18 p.m., officers responded to City of Hope, 1500 East Duarte Road in the City of Duarte, regarding a previously reported vehicle burglary that had occurred in Arcadia. The suspect called and emailed the victim to inform him that he had his stolen property and wished to return it to him. After the victim offered the suspect a reward, the suspect agreed to meet him at the City of Hope parking lot. Officers witnessed the exchange of property for money. The 34-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Friday, June 10:
11. At about 7:17 a.m., an officer responded to SoapSox, 11605 Goldring Road, regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) entered the business and stole a computer, iPhone and wallet. The victim also discovered that his briefcase was missing from his unlocked vehicle. Fraudulent charges were made to the victim’s credit card. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
12. At approximately 5:01p.m., officers responded to the Santa Anita Race Track, 285 West Huntington Drive, regarding a suspect who had taken food and property from another patron. An investigation revealed the suspect had been previously removed from the location for trespassing and was told not to return. The 31-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Saturday, June 11:
13. At about 6:41 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Altura Road and Hugo Reid Drive for expired registration. An investigation revealed the registration had expired in 2012 and the driver was driving with an expired license and no proof of car insurance. He was cited and released in the field. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
14. Just after 6:13 p.m., an officer responded to Sephora, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a report of shoplifting. A loss prevention specialist witnessed two suspects conceal numerous items in their shopping bags before exiting the store, failing to make payment. An investigation revealed the suspects had also stolen merchandise from several other stores inside Westfield Santa Anita. The 14 year-old female from Altadena and 16-year-old female from Pasadena were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
