Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, April 14th, through Saturday, April 20th


For the period of Sunday, April 14th, through Saturday, April 20th, the Police Department responded to 926 calls for service of which 98 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, April 14:

1. At 6:49 p.m., officers responded to a vacant residence in the 1400 block of San Carlos Road regarding an audible alarm activation. Officers discovered the rear patio window had been smashed. Unknown suspect(s) ransacked the master bedroom closet and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

2. At 11:17 p.m., officers responded to Dave and Busters, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a battery that had just occurred. An employee intervened when he believed a male subject was attempting to steal a phone from two other patrons. One of the patrons then pushed and scratched the employee. An investigation revealed the three subjects were there together recording a prank video.

The 20-year-old male from Albuquerque, New Mexico was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, April 15:

3. At 8:13 a.m., officers responded to Bendick Precision Inc., 56 La Porte Street, regarding a criminal threats report. The suspect entered the location upset that his belongings he abandoned across the street on private property had been thrown away. The suspect was carrying a machete attached to his backpack when he told the victim that he was going to chop him up. Officers located the 25-year-old male transient, and he was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, April 16:

4. At 2:51 a.m., officers responded to 24-Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a stabbing that had just occurred. The victim entered the location and informed employees that he had been stabbed across the street, near the Metro Plaza. The victim had been stabbed four times by an unknown suspect and was unable to provide further details.

5. At 5:52 a.m., officers responded to the area of Santa Anita Avenue and West Huntington Drive regarding possible gunshots heard. The officers did not find any evidence of gunshots in the area; however, they discovered the front door of Emerald Day Spa and Salon had been shattered by unknown means. Surveillance footage revealed a male suspect wearing dark clothing and a face mask forced entry into the business and stole several facial cleaning brushes and accessories.

6. At 1:54 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Coldwell Banker Commercial George Realty, 660 West Huntington Drive, regarding a vehicle burglary that had just occurred. The victim drove to the location after withdrawing cash from his bank. When the victim entered the business, the suspect parked next to his car, smashed the passenger side window, and entered the victim’s vehicle. A witness alerted the victim, and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was described as a male wearing a maroon hooded sweatshirt, maroon sweatpants, and a black ski mask. The suspect vehicle was described as a newer model dark gray Jeep Cherokee.


Wednesday, April 17:

7. At 2:50 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a strongarm robbery that had just occurred. The elderly victim was walking in the area when two suspects in a dark colored Mercedes pulled up next to her and asked her for the time. The passenger placed a plastic necklace around her neck, then grabbed her hand and forcibly removed her two gold bracelets from her wrist, causing the victim to fall on the ground. The driver was described as male, and the passenger was described as a heavyset female with long dark hair.

8. At 6:06 p.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of West Duarte Road regarding the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim parked her car on the street on April 14th around 10:00 p.m. and returned on the 16th around 3:00 p.m. to find it missing. The vehicle was recovered on the evening of the 17th in East Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

9. At 10:01 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Longden Avenue regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door and ransacked several rooms before fleeing the scene. The property loss was unknown at the time of the report due to the homeowner living outside of the country.


Thursday, April 18:

10. At 7:07 p.m., officers responded to Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a theft report. Two suspects rapidly filled a large bag and a shopping cart with over $1,000 worth of groceries before fleeing the store to their white Toyota Camry parked in a nearby handicapped stall. The suspect driver was described as a female, 50 to 60-years-old, five feet five inches tall, with a medium build, and short curly greying brown hair, wearing a black bandana, a striped multi-colored blouse, blue jeans, and gold earrings. The suspect passenger was described as a female, 50 to 60-years-old, five feet five inches tall, heavyset, wearing a blonde wig, a blue knit long-sleeve blouse, and peach colored pants.


Friday, April 19:

11. At 12:58 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Duarte Road and Holly Avenue regarding a solo vehicle collision. The driver drove into a streetlamp, shearing it off at its base. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 29-year-old female from Arcadia was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was issued a citation and transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.

12. At 3:57 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Highland Oaks Drive regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the victim left her home to visit a friend in Pasadena.

When she returned to her car, she discovered her tires had been slashed. Around the same time, she received notification that her home burglary alarm had been activated. Security footage revealed three suspects smashed a side window and entered the home. The suspects ransacked the home and stole a safe containing a handgun and cash. The suspects were described as males wearing pants, with long sleeved shirts, orange and yellow reflective vests, and face masks. The suspect vehicle was described as a silver Honda Pilot.


Saturday, April 20:

13. At 10:36 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue regarding the report of a burglary. Two unknown suspects entered the home through an unsecured upstairs window.

Once inside, the suspects ransacked several rooms. The suspects were described as males, wearing all dark clothing with black hats and black gloves.

14. At 10:36 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Campus Drive regarding a hit and run traffic collision that had just occurred. The suspect driver crashed into a parked car causing it to roll onto its side. The driver and two passengers exited the car and fled the scene on foot. Officers located the three subjects and determined that the driver had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. The 26-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
