Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - 12/17/2023 - 12/23/2023



For the period of Sunday, December 17th, through Saturday, December 23rd , the Police Department responded to 910 calls for service of which 110 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, December 17:

1. At 1:23 p.m., officers responded to H-Mart, 1101 West Huntington Drive, regarding a male subject yelling at customers. Officers contacted the subject who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. An investigation revealed he also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The subject resisted arrest and was ultimately detained. The 41-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


2. At 3:54 p.m., officers responded to Ding’s Garden, 733 West Naomi, regarding a subject loitering in front of the location drinking alcohol. The 35-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


3. At 7:04 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. Three male juveniles were seen entering a dressing room with merchandise. Two of the males exited with no merchandise and the third male exited with only his backpack. The subjects were contacted by a loss prevention agent who located the stolen merchandise inside the backpack. The 14-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking then released to his parent.


Monday, December 18:

4. At 8:40 a.m., officers responded to Garden Café, 850 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a burglary report. Employees found three holes in the ceiling but did not notice any ransacking or loss. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the attic and used a hatchet and prybar found at the scene to cut through the ceiling. The phone lines were also cut.


5. At 9:00 p.m., officers responded to REI, 214 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a theft report. Two suspects stole merchandise from the location and fled on foot. Officers located both subjects. One subject spat at officers and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The second subject was also in possession of methamphetamine and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The 23-year-old from Los Angeles, and the 28-year-old male from El Monte, were both arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, December 19:

6. At 2:34 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Palm Drive regarding the report of a burglary. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the home by smashing the rear glass door. The loss was unknown at the time of the report due to the victims being out of the country.


7. At 3:34 p.m., officers responded to the area of Huntington Drive and Fifth Avenue regarding the notification alert of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle at Conserv Fuel, 701 West Huntington Drive. The 33-year-old male driver from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


8. At 6:00 p.m., officers responded to Embassy Suites, 211 East Huntington Drive, regarding a

vandalism that had just occurred. The female suspect was seen smashing the glass window of

second story room with a fire extinguisher. The female claimed her baby’s father was inside the room with another woman and she wanted to confront him. No one was located inside the room and the female suspect was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The 31-year-old female from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Wednesday, December 20:

9. At 10:51 a.m., officers responded to the office building located at 77 Las Tunas Drive regarding continual problems with subjects breaking into the building to steal water and power from the location. As a result, owners have raised gates and installed electronic pin locks on the restroom doors. Video footage revealed two local transients climbed over the gate and broke into the restrooms.


10. At 6:42 p.m., officers responded to Quickly Café, 171 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a theft report. The suspect was found walking around inside the rear storage room and kitchen. When the employee confronted the suspect, he claimed to be lost. After he left, the employee noticed money was missing from the cash box.


Thursday, December 21:

11. At 7:57 a.m., officers responded to Supercuts, 411 East Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) shattered the front glass door by unknown means before ransacking the business and stealing the register card reader before fleeing the scene.


Friday, December 22:

12. A detective investigating a recent commercial burglary recognized a female suspect from a prior arrest. At approximately 9:16 a.m., the female suspect was located in the 200 block of East Live Oak Ave and was arrested for commercial burglary.


Saturday, December 23:

13. At 1:38 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Walnut Avenue, regarding a burglary report. Two suspects forced entry into the home by smashing the rear glass door. The suspects ransacked multiple rooms, stealing several high-end watches and jewelry before fleeing the scene. The first suspect is described as male, approximately 20 to 30-years-old, heavy set, wearing a light-colored jacket and dark pants. The second suspect is described as male, heavy set, wearing a black jacket covering his face, and dark pants.


14. At 8:50 p.m., officers responded to REI, 214 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a theft in

progress. Officers stopped and detained the suspect without incident. The 31-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


15. At 10:39 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding

multiple reports of a vehicle not known to the area parked and playing loud music for close to an hour. The officer attempted to contact the driver of the vehicle by knocking on the driver’s window.

At that time, the female driver made eye contact with the officer before driving away. A pursuit

ensued and was terminated due to unsafe driving.
