Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report- 10/9 to 10/15

For the period of Sunday, October 9th, through Saturday, October 15th, the Police Department responded to 945 calls for service of which 137 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, October 9:
Shortly before 1:33 a.m., an officer responded to Maki & Sushi, 302 East Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed the unidentified suspect used an unknown tool to break the front window, looked for the office, but fled empty handed when the alarm activated.
The suspect was seen driving a white sedan and was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.
Around 11:40 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Campus Drive regarding a domestic dispute. The officer discovered the suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, was threatening his roommate, the victim. A records check revealed the suspect also had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The 40-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for making terrorist threats.
3. At about 7:20 p.m., an officer responded to Zumiez, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding two suspicious subjects. An investigation revealed the suspects concealed numerous items of merchandise underneath their clothing. Upon contacting the suspects, both admitted to being under the influence of a controlled substance. The 25-year-old male transient and the 24-year-old female transient were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, October 10:
Just after 2:34 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 6000 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer determined two suspects broke into the victim’s home, encountered the residents, and fled empty-handed on foot. A 19-year-old female from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The second suspect is outstanding at the time of this report.
At approximately 6:41 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Palo Alto Drive regarding a fraud report. The victim stated he received notification from his bank about two applications for new credit accounts, however, they were declined. The victim does not know how the suspect(s) obtained his personal information. The investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday, October 11:
6. Around 8:18 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Valencia Way regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the unknown suspect entered the house through a rear door that had been damaged during a previous burglary, stole a television, purse, costume jewelry, and fled undetected. The investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, October 12:
Shortly after 10:24 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a fraud report. The victim initiated conversation with a City of Arcadia employee about a home improvement program. An unknown suspect began emailing the victim as though they were the city employee and instructed the victim to pay $270.00 to an individual in Massachusetts. The victim complied and finally ended communication once he received another suspicious email. The investigation is ongoing.
At about 9:05 p.m., an officer responded to Sephora, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. Loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal numerous items in an empty shopping bag before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 17-year-old female from Los Angeles was cited and released to her father.
Thursday, October 13:
At approximately 12:01 a.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect smashed the victim’s car window, stole a backpack and purse, and used the victim’s debit card at a gas station and restaurant in Baldwin Park. The investigation is ongoing.
Around 1:54 a.m., an officer contacted a subject in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Duarte Road for riding a skateboard on the sidewalk. During a consensual search of the subject, the officer located a stolen credit card. The 39-year-old male from Temple City was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 12:23 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a transient throwing trash. As the officer attempted to contact the subject, he fled on foot. The officer caught up to the suspect and during a search of the man, the officer located a bag of methamphetamine. The 47-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before 3:27 p.m., officers responded to Arcadia Garden Café, 850 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed an incident of road rage escalated as the suspect exited her vehicle and pulled on the victim’s hair, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect fled before officers arrived.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic female driving a black, four-door BMW sedan. The investigation is ongoing.
Friday, October 14:
13. Shortly after 12:00 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of East Las Flores Avenue regarding a mail theft report. A witness saw a transient looking inside mailboxes. The officer located the suspect and discovered he was in possession of stolen mail. The 55-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Saturday, October 15:
14. At approximately 2:46 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Highland Oaks Drive regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear glass door, disabled the alarm, and fled undetected. The total loss is unknown as the time of this report. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
