Sunday, July 3rd
At 8:48 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 21-year-old male who fractured his leg while playing basketball. Paramedics assessed the patient and stabilized the fractured extremity. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, July 4th
At 12:20 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in 00 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 85-year-old female experiencing back pain. The patient received advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, July 5th
At 7:23 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a fireworks investigation call in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel were met by security officers who turned over unused fireworks that had been found on their property. Fire personnel took custody of the fireworks for proper disposal.
Wednesday, July 6th
At 12:50 a.m., Engine 106, Engine 105, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Los Angeles County Engine 47 responded to a report of smoke in a structure in the 9900 block of West Las Tunas Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews observed light smoke inside of the residence. Fire personnel made entry into the structure and discovered the source of the smoke was an insect fogger. The owner was contacted and residence left secured.
Thursday, July 7th
At 7:38 p.m., Truck 105 responded to a chemical spill at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Alta Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a car battery, leaking acid, lying in the street. Fire personnel used an absorbent to contain the leak and contacted a private company to clean up the scene.
Friday, July 8th
At 1:13 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to an assault victim in the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 48-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, head, and extremities, after being involved in an altercation. The patient received advanced life support measures at the scene including needle thoracostomy (to release air from the chest cavity), oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, July 9th
At 4:08 p.m., Engine 106 responded to the Sage Fire in the city of Santa Clarita, as part of strike team XLC 1205A, in support of the State of California’s master mutual aid program. The strike team was assigned to Structure Defense Group which provided structure protection, perimeter control, and fire line support. The strike team was released from the incident at 11:15 p.m.


Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 28 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 323 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
