The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of September 18, 2016 to September 24, 2016.




Sunday, September 18th

 At 1:40 p.m., Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105, along with units from the Pasadena Fire Department responded to a traffic collision and vehicle fire on the eastbound 210 freeway at Michillinda Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a vehicle fully involved with fire and the 20-year-old driver nearby. The driver was assessed but refused any treatment. The fire was promptly extinguished.

Monday, September 19th

 At 12:12 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of Las Tunas Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 56-year-old female experiencing a fainting episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including fluid replacement and sugar testing. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, September 20th

 At 3:39 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of East Campus Drive. Fire personnel arrived to find a 14-year-old male with left arm pain and obvious deformity. The patient received basic life support measures on scene including immobilizing and splinting the affected extremity. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, September 21st

 At 9:53 a.m., Truck 105 and Battalion 105 responded with the Monrovia Fire Department to a commercial fire in the 100 block of Huntington Drive in the city of Monrovia. Upon arrival, fire personnel observed smoke showing from the street. Further investigation revealed a storage room on fire and the sprinkler system activated. Fire crews extinguished all remaining fire and ventilated the structure.

Thursday, September 22nd

 At 8:17 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to medical call in the 300 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 21-year-old female with pain and deformity to her left ankle after a 15’ fall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, intravenous therapy, pain management, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.




Friday, September 23rd

 At 3:01 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of La Sierra Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an elderly male suffering from head pain after a fall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, spinal immobilization evaluation and precaution, and cardiac monitoring.

Saturday, September 24th

 At 12:39 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of Don Ricardo Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 67-year-old male suffering from head, neck, and shoulder pain after a fall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, fluid replacement, and spinal immobilization. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Volunteer Weekly Activity Report

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 80 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.

Training

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 485 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
