Sunday, February 18th
At 10:46 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 2300 block of El Capitan Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a male patient experiencing an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, medication therapy, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, February 19th
At 11:07 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient having shortness of breath. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, February 20th
At 8:58 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find an elderly male having a seizure. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, February 21st
At 11:13 a.m., Rescue Ambulance 105 and Monrovia Engine 101 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of Winding Oak Lane. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient experiencing abdominal pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring and glucose check. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, February 22nd
At 5:51 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 36-year-old female severely nauseous and vomiting. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including glucose check, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, February 23rd
At 8:16 a.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, and Battalion 105 responded to a request for damage assessment in the 100 block of South First Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-story commercial building under construction. The scaffolding had a tarp covering the entire upper exterior which became a sail in the wind and pulled the scaffolding structure over and onto a tree. Truck 105 was able to release the tarp using the aerial ladder and wire cutters. The onsite construction crew used a scissor lift to safely disassemble the structure. Engine 105 remained on scene to witness the removal of the troubled section. Arcadia Police also responded to the incident.
Saturday, February 24th
At 6:25 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist on Doolittle Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find an elderly male who had been working construction on a residence and collapsed into full cardiac arrest. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including CPR, intravenous access, administration of cardiac medications, advanced airway, cardiac defibrillation, and monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 333 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 40 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
