Sunday, October 9th
At 2:05 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 65-year-old male suffering chest pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, October 10th
At 4:27 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of Campus Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 15-year-old female complaining of leg pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, October 11th
At 10:51 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 75-year-old female with a laceration to her head and also suffering weakness and dizziness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, oxygen therapy, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, October 12th
At 6:00 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical call in the 100 block of Alice Street. Upon arrival, fire personal evaluated a 34-year-old male experiencing an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, intravenous therapy, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, October 13th
At 3:27 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Harvard Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 42-year- old male motorcyclist complaining of leg and arm pain after colliding with a car. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including full spinal immobilization, intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Arcadia Police also responded to the scene.
Friday, October 14th
At 1:23 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a bee call in the 200 block of Bonita Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel (donning appropriate protective gear) were lead to a bee colony in the locations attic. The bees were found to be calm and docile and were left undisturbed. The resident was advised of the findings and asked to call if the bees become aggressive.
Saturday, October 15th
At 7:00 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to Methodist Hospital of Southern California’s Emergency Room for a trauma patient transfer to Huntington Memorial Hospital. The patient, a 68-year-old female with back and leg injuries, had arrived to the hospital by private automobile. Further evaluation determined the patient required care at a trauma center. Paramedics took over care of the patient and transported her to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 80 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 270 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
