The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of November 20, 2016 to November 26, 2016. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, November 20th
At 3:08 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of West Camino Real Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find an 88-year-old female with a complaint of weakness and dizziness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, November 21st
At 6:07 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 700 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 50-year-old male having difficulty breathing. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures at the scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, November 22nd
At 3:32 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to a medical call in the 00 block of West Norman Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find an 80-year- old female with difficulty breathing. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, November 23rd
At 6:16 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluation an 87-year- female experiencing weakness and dizziness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, November 24th
At 2:30 a.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105, along with Monrovia Fire and Rescue, responded to a house fire in the 100 block of North Canyon Boulevard in the city of Monrovia. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a multi-family dwelling with one unit involved. Arcadia Fire crews assisted with fire extinguishment, evacuation, safety, and rapid intervention crew operations.
Friday, November 25th
At 3:28 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of Loralyn Drive. Upon arrival, fire crews evaluated a 90-year-old male suffering from general weakness. The patient received advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, intravenous access, medication therapy, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, November 26th
At 7:35 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision in the 200 block of West Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel already on scene assisting the injured. Arcadia Truck 105 and Battalion 105 were requested to assist with extrication of one vehicle occupant. Fire personnel evaluated two patients who were suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. Both patients received advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and medication therapy. Both were transported to Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 76 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 318 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
