Sunday, July 24th
At 11:21 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist at the intersection of East Colorado Boulevard and North First Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 41-year-old female complaining of an altered level of consciousness with obvious facial trauma. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead electrocardiogram, full spinal immobilization, intravenous access, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, July 25th
At 3:07 p.m., Engine 106 and Pasadena Engine 37 responded to a vegetation fire on the eastbound 210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene and found a small vegetation fire burning in the center divider of the freeway in the Metro Gold Line right of way. Fire personnel utilized a pressurized water can extinguisher and hand tools to extinguish and overhaul the fire.
Tuesday, July 26th
At 4:40 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 900 block of West Singingwood Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene to find an 86-year-old female complaining of weakness and dizziness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, July 27th
At 12:21 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a solo traffic collision in the 00 block of West Live Oak Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a vehicle with the engine running, resting against a wall, and on the sidewalk. The 41-year-old driver, who was still seated in her vehicle, had no recollection of the incident. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, July 28th
At 4:10 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1800 block of South Third Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 90-year-old male complaining of an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, July 29th
At 9:50 a.m., Rescue Ambulance 105 and Monrovia Engine 102 responded to a medical assist in the 5400 block of South Peck Road. Fire crews arrived to find a 22-year-old male complaining of a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, July 30th
At 10:10 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, paramedics treated a 22-year-old male who had accidentally kicked a piece of furniture causing his toenail to tear off. The toe was bandaged and the patient opted to seek further treatment through his personal physician.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 28 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 218 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
