Arcadia Fire Department Weekly Report January 15 to January 21, 2017

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 15, 2017 to January 21, 2017.

Sunday, January 15th  At 1:02 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 1700 block of South Mayflower Avenue on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an elderly female with hypoglycemia. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, heart monitoring, and medication to increase her blood sugar level. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, January 16th

 At 2:26 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 100 block of East Live Oak Avenue on a traffic collision. Fire crews arrived on scene and found an 81-year-old female driver had struck a planter after experiencing a syncopal episode. Fire crews assessed the vehicle for any leaks and evaluated the driver who refused any further medical care. The scene was released to the Arcadia Police Department.

Tuesday, January 17th

 At 8:53 a.m., Engine 106 and Engine 107, along with units from Monrovia Fire Department responded to the intersection of Monterey Avenue and West Huntington Drive in the city of Monrovia on a gas main break. Arcadia Fire personnel arrived on scene and staged upwind of the leak. Monrovia units were able to control the leak and cancelled assisting units.

Wednesday, January 18th

 At 10:49 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 500 block of West Huntington Drive on a medical call. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 92-year-old female in an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, January 19th

 At 13:38 p.m., Engine

105 and US&R 106, along with units from Monrovia Fire Department, responded to the west- bound 210 freeway at Myrtle Avenue in the city of Monrovia on an injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a female driver trapped in her vehicle after colliding with a semi-truck. The patient was extricated from the vehicle and received advanced life support measures on scene including cervical collar and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, January 20th

 At 12:16 p.m., US&R 106 and Engine 106, along with assisting units responded to the 1100 block of Norumbega Drive in the city of Monrovia on a single vehicle traffic accident in a flood channel with persons possibly trapped. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a vehicle stuck in the mud due to the heavy rain. No injuries were reported and extrication was not needed. The occupants were assisted from their vehicle and released at the scene.

Saturday, January 21st

 At 11:28 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 200 block of Colorado Place on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who had a seizure. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
