The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:




Sunday, November 12th

At 8:00 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 600 block of East Live Oak Avenue on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 25-year-old female experiencing abdominal pain. Further assessment revealed she was pregnant and in labor. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, November 13th

At 2:39 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 600 block of West Fairview Avenue on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find an 89-year-old female with a gastrointestinal bleed. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, November 14th

At 11:04 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 00 block of East Live Oak Avenue on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 90-year-old female experiencing a sudden onset of chest pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, oxygen therapy, administration of cardiac medications, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, November 15th

At 12:08 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 25-year-old male unconscious and in police custody. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, cardiac monitoring, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, November 16th

At 4:03 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 2000 block of Bella Vista Drive on a medical assist. Fire personnel arrived to find a six-day-old infant suffering from nausea and vomiting. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.




Friday, November 17th


At 8:47 a.m., Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Monrovia Fire Department Engine 102 responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and the Foothill Freeway, Monrovia, on a traffic collision. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single vehicle roll-over traffic accident. Fire crews evaluated two patients and released them at the scene. Truck 105 contained fluids leaking from the vehicle and Engine 102 remained on scene.

Saturday, November 18th

At 6:18 p.m., Engine 106 and San Marino Fire Rescue Ambulance 91 responded to the 200 block of West Huntington Drive on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 70-year-old male experiencing chest pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Volunteer Activity

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 84 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.

Training

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 368 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.




Fire Prevention Bureau

Fire protection systems commissioning has begun on Buildings 1 and 2 of the Arcadia Logistics Center located at 12321 Lower Azusa Road. These warehouses measure 203,000 square feet and 347,000 square feet and possess a high level of fire protection features including fire pumps and use of Early Suppression Fast Response fire sprinklers.
