The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of July 23, 2017 to July 29, 2017. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, July 23rd
At 10:51 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 2300 block of South Baldwin Avenue on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find an 86-year-old female in an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, July 24th
At 4:53 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of South Santa Anita Avenue on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 49-year-old combative male in an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment. The Arcadia Police Department assisted with transport.
Tuesday, July 25th
At 3:08 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, and Battalion 105, along with units from Sierra Madre Fire, Los Angeles County Fire, U.S. Forest Service, and Pasadena Fire responded to a brush fire in the hills above Sierra Madre. Battalion 105 established command and assigned units to extinguish the fire, overhaul the fire, and protect structures in the path of the fire. During the incident two
hikers were located above the fire and a Los Angeles County Fire Helicopter was requested to evacuate them from the
area. The fire was contained to 1.6 acres. All outside agencies on the incident were ordered under the State of California Master Mutual Aid Agreement.
Wednesday, July 26th
At 6:36 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of Rolyn Place on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 37-year-old female experiencing general weakness and dizziness after giving birth three hours prior. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, fluid challenge, and glucose check. The patient and her newborn infant were transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, July 27th
At 5:22 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 100 block of South Baldwin Avenue on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find an 82-year-old male feeling weak and dizzy. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, July 28th
At 8:22 a.m., Truck 105, Engine 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Battalion 105, and Monrovia Fire Department responded to the 1800 block of Peck Road, Monrovia, on a structure fire. Upon arrival, fire units found smoke and fire coming from a residence. Fire crews aggressively attacked the fire and contained it to the building of origin. Fire personnel searched for victims, ventilated the structure, and provided for firefighter safety. There were no injuries; however, two families were displaced as a result of the fire.

Saturday, July 29th
At 8:30 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 300 block of North Baldwin Avenue on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 63-year-old male feeling weak and dizzy. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 80 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 244 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
