Arcadia Fire Department Weekly Report for the week March 18 t0 March 24, 2018

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 18 – March 24, 2018. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:




Sunday, March 18th

At 4:12 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient experiencing wrist pain after falling off of a horse. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, cervical spine assessment, and pain management. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, March 19th

At 2:57 p.m., Engine 105, Monrovia Fire Squad 101, and Cole Schaefer Ambulance responded to a medical call in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 30-year-old female who had experienced a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, March 20th

At 11:02 a.m., Engine 106 responded to an elevator problem in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found malfunctioning elevators in an eight-story building. Investigation determined that both elevators were clear of occupants. Fire personnel assisted an elderly female down three flights of stairs. Elevator technicians responded for repair.

Wednesday, March 21st

At 10:57 a.m., Rescue Ambulance 106 and Monrovia Engine 102 responded to a medical assist in the 00 block of West Campus Drive. Fire crews arrived to find an elderly male experiencing shortness of breath. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, March 22nd

At 3:03 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 45-year-old male experiencing a possible heart problem. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.




Friday, March 23rd

At 7:39 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in 700 block of West Camino Real Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a female patient in an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, March 24th

At 9:26 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical call in the 1300 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a female patient who had experienced a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Volunteer Activity

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 40 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.

Training

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 313 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
