The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of September 17, 2017 to September 23, 2017. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:




Sunday, September 17th

At 12:24 p.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 300 block of East Huntington Drive on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 24-year-old male having suicidal thoughts. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene and transported the patient to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, September 18th

At 17:31 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Monrovia Engine 102 responded to the eastbound 210 freeway at Santa Anita Avenue on a traffic collision. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 56-year-old male experiencing abdominal pain after being involved in a traffic accident. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, blood glucose testing, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, September 19th

At 6:05 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 100 block of California Street on a medical assist. Fire personnel arrived to find a one-year-old toddler having an allergic reaction to peanut butter. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including oxygen, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and medication. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, September 20th

At 8:31 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 00 block of Wheeler Avenue on a medical call. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 59-year-old male experiencing nausea and vomiting after a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, September 21st

At 11:44 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 200 block of East Foothill Boulevard on a medical assist. Fire crews arrived to find a 26-year-old male in an altered level of consciousness after exposure to noxious fumes. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.




Friday, September 22nd

At 7:59 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 responded to the eastbound 210 freeway at Santa Anita Avenue on a motorcycle down. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 60-year-old male experiencing knee and hip pain after crashing his motorcycle. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including full spinal immobilization and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, September 23rd

At 3:57 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to 5401 Peck Road on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 39-year-old female with a laceration to her face from a dog bite. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene and transported the patient to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Volunteer Activity

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 80 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.

Training

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 381 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
