Arcadia Fire Department Weekly Report-August 28, 2016 to September 3, 2016

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of August 28, 2016 to September 3, 2016. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:




Sunday, August 28th

 At 12:33 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist at Methodist Hospital of Southern California, 300 West Huntington Drive. Hospital personnel determined a critical patient required transport to the stoke center at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Paramedics transported the patient, along with a nurse and a respiratory therapist, to the stroke center.




Monday, August 29th

 At 2:55 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106responded to a medical assist in the 1100 block of West Foothill Boulevard. Fire crews arrived to find an 84-year-old female experiencing shortness of breath. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.




Tuesday, August 30th

 At 5:08 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical call in the 1200 block of Rancho Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 64-year-old female unconscious and unresponsive. Fire personnel provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.




Wednesday, August 31st

 At 2:55 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106  responded to a medical assist in the 1100 block of West Foothill Boulevard. Fire crews arrived to find an 84-year-old female experiencing shortness of breath. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation ad  treatment.

Thursday, September 1st








 At 9:13 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a public assist in the 2200 block of Greenfield Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an elderly female on the ground after slipping out of her wheelchair. Fire personnel lifted her back to her feet and onto her wheelchair. No further assistance was needed.




Friday, September 2nd

 At 4:11 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 70-year-old female experiencing shortness of breath. Paramedics provided intravenous advanced life support measures on scene including, intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, September 3rd

 At 10:18 a.m., E106 responded to an animal rescue call in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found a Pasadena Animal Control Officer attempting to free a peacock trapped in a narrow space between a vinyl fence and block wall. The peacock was eventually extricated, without injury, and release at the scene.

Volunteer Weekly Activity Report

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 76 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.

Training

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 338 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
