The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of April 16, 2017 to April 22, 2017.
Sunday, April 16th
At 11:58 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of South Santa Anita Avenue on a medical call. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a 29-year-old female with a wound from a dog bite. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene including cleaning and bandaging the wound, then transported the patient to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, April 17th
At 8:20 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 00 block of Campus Drive on a medical call. Fire crews arrived on scene and found an elderly female experiencing chest pains. Paramedics performed advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, April 18th
At 11:28 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 600 block of West Duarte Road on a medical call. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 75-year-old male experiencing facial pain after a trip and fall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, April 19th
At 10:27 a.m., Engine 105, Urban Search and Rescue 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, Battalion 105, and units from the Monrovia Fire Department responded to the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street on a traffic collision. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single vehicle overturned, resting on several trees on the embankment below the 210 freeway. Two female occupants had been removed from their vehicle prior to fire personnel arrival. Both patients had mild injuries and were transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, April 20th
At 11:00 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 00 block of Lucille Street on a medical assist. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an elderly male experiencing general weakness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures at the scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, April 21st
At 7:54 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 100 block of East Huntington Drive on an assault victim. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 37-year-old male with facial pain after being assaulted. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene; however, the patient refused further treatment and transport to a local hospital. He was left at the scene with the Arcadia Police Department.
Saturday, April 22nd
At 9:19 a.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Battalion 105, and the Sierra Madre Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Ramona Avenue, Sierra Madre, on a structure fire. Upon arrival, fire units found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the structure. Arcadia Fire personnel assisted with fire attack, salvage, and overhaul. Battalion 105 established incident command. The fire was contained to the front of the structure and no injuries were reported.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 409 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
Volunteer Activity
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 56 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
