The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 12, 2016 to June 18, 2016. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, June 12th
At 4:57 p.m. Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to an electrical fire in the 800 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered an ice machine pump malfunctioning and smoking. Fire crews immediately turned off the power to the unit and extinguished the fire. The scene was released to the property manager.

Monday, June 13th
At 4:34 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived to find a 90-year-old female complaining of an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, June 14th
At 7:26 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision at El Caballo Drive and West Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 56-year- old female complaining of neck, back, hip, and abdominal pain after being hit by a vehicle. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including full cervical immobilization, intravenous access, blood glucose monitoring and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, June 15th
At 5:14 p.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, Battalion 105, and Monrovia Paramedic Squad 101 responded to a traffic collision in the 00 block of Michillinda Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews found an 87-year-old male complaining of chest pains after colliding into a light pole. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, June 16th
At 9:08 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived to find a 95-year-old male experiencing a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, June 17th
At 7:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1800 block of South Tenth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated an 82-year-old male complaining of an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, June 18th
At 5:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of South Sunset Boulevard. Fire crews arrived to find an 83-year-old man complaining of an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 32 hours of volunteer activities. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
Training
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 387 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
