The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of December 11, 2016 to December 17, 2016. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, December 11th
At 10:02 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 300 block of Altura Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 56-year-old female experiencing a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, December 12th
At 1:52 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105 along with units from Monrovia Fire Department responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of West Live Oak Avenue and Las Tunas Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single vehicle that had taken down a light pole, on its side, and with four adult victims trapped inside. Fire crews used the Jaws of Life to remove the top of the vehicle providing access to the trapped victims. Three of the four patients had succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at scene. The surviving patient was provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, full-spinal immobilization, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, December 13th
At 10:45 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic accident at West Camino Real Avenue and Holly Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 72- year-old female with head pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, December 14th
At 1:34 a.m., Engine 106 and Air Utility 106 responded to a fourth alarm fire in a commercial strip mall in the 300 block of East Garvey Avenue in the city of Monterey Park. Fire crews assisted with providing light and filling air bottles. The strip mall was deemed a total loss.
Thursday, December 15th
At 12:00 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a male patient experiencing a syncopal episode. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, December 16th
At 6:14 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of East Live Oak Avenue and Farna Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a vehicle resting on its side and the male driver nearby with a complaint of neck and back pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including spinal mobilization restriction and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, December 17th
At 12:32 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 2300 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 79-year-old female with a complaint of leg pain after a fall. The patient received advanced life support measures on scene including traction splint, cardiac monitoring, glucose level monitoring, and intravenous drug therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
