Sunday, October 30th
At 4:14 p.m., Engine 105 responded to investigate electrical wires down in the 2600 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find an active arcing electrical line down between a pole and house with vegetation smoldering. Fire crews extinguished the fire then remained on scene to monitor the downed line until the arrival of Southern California Edison employees.
Monday, October 31
At 8:16 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist at the 200 block of East Foothill Boulevard. Fire crews arrived to find a 54-year-old female complaining of an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, November 1st
At 8:20 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision in the 200 block of West Colorado Boulevard. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision with two patients. Both were evaluated for injuries and were provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead electrocardiogram, cervical spinal assessment, and applied dressings. The patients were taken to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Wednesday, November 2nd
At 7:17 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of North Whispering Oaks Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 40-year-old male complaining of weakness and dizziness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, November 3rd
At 11:39 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 200 block of Renoak Way. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 34-year-old male with a laceration to his head after an accident at a construction site. The patient received basic life support measures at the scene. He was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, November 4th
At 7:32 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of West Huntington Drive and Centennial Way. Fire crews arrived to find an 85-year-male with a broken leg after being hit by a vehicle. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, full spinal immobilization, and splinting the injured leg. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The 21-year-old male driver who collided into the pedestrian and a tree was assessed for minor injuries. He was not transported to a hospital but released to the Arcadia Police Department.
On Friday November 4th and Saturday November 5th, the Arcadia Fire Department placed additional units into service for the 2016 Breeders Cup at the Santa Anita Race Track. This included an additional engine company, rescue ambulance, and two chief officers. A battalion chief was assigned to race track property and the Deputy Fire Chief was assigned to Arcadia Police Department’s command post.
Saturday, November 5th
At 2:22 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist at the intersection of West Huntington Drive and La Cadena Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 60-year-old female who had experienced a seizure. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.
Volunteer Weekly Activity Report
During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 106 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.
