San Gabriel Valley Repertory Theatre ‘Dining Dramatically’ Presents

‘A Christmas Caper’ at Oak Tree Room in Arcadia Beginning Dec. 2

Performances continue at Mari’s Kitchen in Covina beginning Dec. 16

You’ll cheer for the hero, sigh over the heroine, and let the villain know how you really feel when San Gabriel Valley Repertory Theatre’s (SGVRT) Dining Dramatically melodrama dinner theatre presents “A Christmas Caper.” This special holiday season treat will be served Dec. 2, 3, 4 and 10, 11 at the Oak Tree Room, 1150 W. Colorado Ave., Arcadia, CA 91007; and Dec. 16, 17, 18 and Mari’s Kitchen, 1319 N. Grand Ave., Covina, CA 91724. Dinner menu with a choice of three entrees available at www.sgvrt.com. Hosted by Shaun Hade, “A Christmas Caper” tells the story of lovely Kathy Kindness (portrayed by Malorie Felt) and her equally lovely aunt Karla Kindness, who are busy wrapping Christmas presents for an orphanage. Little do they realize that one of the presents places them in extreme danger! They suddenly find themselves in the middle of a devious plot involving several strangers. Unsavory Sylvester Stoneheart attempts to purloin the present. Mysterious Vanya Vandalgrabber attempts to purchase it. Handsome hero Gary Goodfellow (played by Gerardo Francisco Yanez) and his companion, company accountant Percy Pencilpoint, appear on the scene searching for a stolen artifact. Why is everyone so interested in Kathy’s gift? Will evil Sylvester Stoneheart succeed in his scheme? Does Vanya Vandalgrabber get the upper hand with a low price? Will Percy be able to help anyone? The only way to find out is to make reservations for this rousing night of delicious food and fine theatre. Guests are invited to join the merriment by donning fun holiday attire. Tickets are $55 and include a three-act play and a three-course dinner. The Oak Tree Room will serve an Italian dinner buffet that includes chicken parmigiana, pasta with meat or marinara sauce and chicken alfredo pasta. Mari’s Kitchen will serve a choice of chicken, pot roast and pasta primavera dinners. Reservations with dinner choice are required by one week before your performance date. They can be made by paying with a credit card at www.sgvrt.com, by calling (626) 327-9885 or sending an email to sgvrt626@gmail.com and then paying (with cash or check only) at the door. Founded by Carolyn Bushnell, Deborah Gould, Darya Harris and Patrick Towles, SGVRT’s mission is to contribute to the cultural enrichment of the San Gabriel Valley community by creating theatrical experiences available to people of all walks of life, collaborating with local businesses, donating to local charitable organizations and providing multiple outlets for artistic expression as well as educational opportunities.
