626 GOLDEN STREETS EVENT THIS WEEKEND CANCELLED After much deliberation and a conference call with all parties involved, the Cities have decided that it is necessary to cancel the 626 Golden Streets event on Sunday. While the fires are only affecting the eastern end of the route, all Cities may be affected by air quality concerns (and high heat). More importantly, the 626 Golden Streets route impacted staging areas and travel patterns for the emergency vehicles and personnel working the fires. Postponement was necessary in order to help ensure public safety in the area. The event will be rescheduled for a later date (probably the fall) and Metro has indicated that they’ll increase the budget to cover additional costs from the rescheduling.
