About the Toolkit Metro is finalizing the development of a toolkit website with policy and regulatory tools aimed at facilitating transit-supportive planning throughout Los Angeles County. The Toolkit is targeted to planning professionals and policy-makers and will include tools, case studies and research on “making the case” for transit-supportive places. Through case studies and examples, the Toolkit provides information that will help communities in Los Angeles County: Implement transit supportive policies and regulations, including Development Standards, Overlays, and Specific Plans Inspire support from elected officials and your community on transit supportive places Revitalize and renew industrial and commercial areas Identify revenue and funding sources, including State and Federal grants and other funding programs The Transit Supportive Planning Toolkit website is part of a larger effort called A Greater LA: The Framework for Regional Climate Action and Sustainability currently under development by the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative. This framework will provide local agencies with strategies to better adapt to climate change and respond to the State mandates regarding greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability. Both programs are funded by the Strategic Growth Council’s Sustainable Communities Planning Grant Program.
