For the period of Sunday, November 3rd, through Saturday, November 9th, the Police Department responded to 940 calls for service of which 131 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, Nov 3:
1. Around 3:02 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Extended Stay Motel, 401 East Santa Clara Street, regarding a battery investigation. The suspect punched the female victim in the face, causing her nose to bleed. The 24-year-old Black male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. During the booking process, the suspect spit in an officer’s face. He was further charged with Battery Against a Peace Officer.
2. At about 9:33 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Orange Grove Avenue for an improperly mounted license plate. An investigation revealed the driver, a 20-year-old White male, had a suspended driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was also in possession of a fraudulent Oregon driver’s license. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, Nov 4:
3. At approximately 3:52 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. The juvenile explained a female suspect hit her on the head with a beer bottle while at a Halloween party on October 31st. The victim’s parents learned about the incident after the fact and reported the incident for documentation purposes only.
4. Shortly after 3:40 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 000 block of Hacienda Drive regarding a suspicious circumstances report. A neighbor observed two unknown Black male subjects walking through a resident’s driveway and leave in a possible tan or light colored 4-door vehicle, described as a Nissan or Honda. Officers checked the location and discovered forced entry was made through a rear door. The suspects ransacked the location; however, the total loss was unknown at the time of the report.
Tuesday, Nov 5:
5. Around 9:43 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud investigation. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) used his personal information to open a Directv account for a residence in the City of Hawthorne. He had no idea how his information was compromised.
6. At approximately 5:12 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for no license plates in the area of Golden West Avenue and Duarte Road. The officer discovered the driver was never issued a license. The 34-year-old Hispanic male was arrested, transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Wednesday, Nov 6:
7. Just after 2:30 p.m., two officers working full uniformed bicycle patrol observed a male subject urinating in the parking lot of the Santa Anita Race Track, 285 West Huntington Drive. They discovered the subject was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The 39-year-old Hispanic male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
8. Around 11:44 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a disturbance. The officer discovered the suspect was in violation of a valid restraining order as he would not leave the location. He also called the victim over 140 times and left approximately 45 voicemail messages containing various threats. The 39-year-old Hispanic male was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Thursday, Nov 7:
9. At about 3:16 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a female subject in the area of Morlan Place and Huntington Drive. The 22-year-old Black female explained she needed help locating her vehicle. The officer discovered she had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was in possession of drug paraphernalia and unauthorized prescription medication. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
10. Around 8:31 p.m., an officer was dispatched to H&M at the Westfeld Santa Anita mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. The Hispanic male suspect concealed merchandise on his person and exited the store without making payment. He told the officer he was a juvenile in hopes of avoiding adult charges; however, a records check revealed he was 18-years-old. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Friday, Nov 8:
11. Just after 2:50 p.m., an officer was conducting records checks off of the guest registry list at the Extended Stay Hotel, 401 East Santa Clara Street, and discovered a subject with two outstanding warrants. An investigation revealed the warrants were valid and belonged to a 44-year-old White male who was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance for sales. The officer also located a 19-year-old White female parolee who was in possession of a controlled substance. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
12. At about 7:41 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a traffic collision in the area of Duarte Road and La Cadena Avenue. Party-1 was driving on Duarte Road when her vehicle was broadsided by party-2, who failed to yield to oncoming traffic. No injuries were reported.
Saturday, Nov 9:
13. Around 6:52 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist for riding with no headlights on in the area of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street. An investigation revealed the 36-year-old Black male was in violation of his parole as he was in possession of a glass pipe. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
14. Just after 7:20 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Macy’s at the Westfield Santa Anita mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed a 23-year-old Hispanic female concealed merchandise inside her purse and exited the store without making payment. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
