Woman celebrates 105th birthday

Ms. Nadya Lanyi will celebrate her 105th birthday on Thursday, Feb. 10. Vista Cove at Arcadia, where she resides, will throw a New York-themed birthday party in honor of Lanyi, who was born in 1906 in Lithuania. She began working at the age of eight and moved to New York when she was 33, spending the next 70 years building a family and earning her own way. Lanyi survived everything from witnessing her grandmother being shot in Russia, to living with famine, and repression during WWII. Believing that you should eat healthy, stay active, work hard, and exercise, Lanyi continues to attend exercise class, Wii Bowling or even Chair Volleyball.
